Bottle. Pours a clear copper tinged brown amber with a thin beige head. Smells like warm cookies, spices and warm figs, toasty malt. Medium bodied, quite spicy. A touch of caramel, malt, toast, more spices. A bit of fig and plum, bitter spices and malt. Spices were great on the nose but come out a bit heavy handed in terms of flavor. It’s no pumpkin but it’s decent enough I guess.

12oz into a leffe glass. Pours a dark brown amber cola. Lacing is small, thin and there. Aroma of Xmas spice galore, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, orange, and even a nutcracker. Taste of the same, orange dominate, quite a sweet malty prevalence, a good hearty friendly brew for the season with a nice kick with the gracious abv. Take a bottle, pass it down.

Pours an attractive chestnut with red-orange undertone, tan medium-body head quickly disappears. Big spice and orange peel on the nose; that’s really big spice, almost like sniffing a ground pile of cardamom, ginger, clove and cinnamon. On the tongue, a burst of orange peel oil very briefly balances the almost dusty dry spice. But the nice initial mouthfeel quickly gets overwhelmed by the harsh spices, which seem thrown in rather than mixed. There’s what seems like a nice ale underneath, and as dry as the spicing is it doesn’t entirely eliminate the smooth beery element. But if this is supposed to be glögg, it tastes more like dumping the spice rack. And the poor figs! Not one survived. I expect better from Southern Tier.

Bottle. Dark amber quick head. Nice seasonal spice aroma. Full palate but flavor starts to dirty up as this warms up.

I don't know what the spice is in this but if I were to guess, I'd guess ginger. Nevertheless, it's way too much. Very unbalanced and undrinkable. Drain pour.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark chestnut body under a one finger frothy off-white head. The nose is super crazy spicy, huge amounts of cinnamon, nutmeg, maybe some ginger, orange peel, and fairly heavy sweetness. The flavor is just as over loaded with spices as the aroma was showing. The cinnamon and ginger are so heavy they almost burn the tongue. The sweetness is even muted by the heavy spice, and I know that there’s a heavy and sweet malt base down there. Medium bodied with a sticky and clingy finish and lots of fizzy carbonation. Not an easy drinking beer, thankfully this one is only a 12 oz bottle.

Reddish, strong spiced aroma with hints of black pepper and ginger. Spiced and caramel malt flavor. Spicy after taste. Fully body. This beer is all spice but very good. It's not something you would drink a few of. Best drunk as part of winter celebrating and full festive meals as an after dinner drink. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a copper reddish with a very small slight off white head. Head dissipates rather quickly. Smell is cloves and banana and cinnamon and bubble gum. My God it smells like Christmas. Medium mouthfeel with plenty of carbonation. The taste is very interesting. It was a good bit piney-er than I expected. A bit of alcohol warmth. Honestly, there’s a little too much going on tastewise - all the smells are represented in the flavor - maybe just a bit too much. Not really sure if I like the taste, but I know I like the smell a whole lot more.

UPDATED: DEC 11, 2014 Deep clear reddish brown with a cream colored head. Aroma of pumpkin pie, clove, fig, berries, and pine. Taste is well spiced, malty and slightly sweet, just barely boozy, and a little bitter. Medium-full bodied. Very well done; lots of spice/holiday flavors without overdoing it or lacking the necessary backbone.
