Pours hazy orange with a small light beige head. Smells lightly malty with a subtle hop note. Taste is sweet with some citrus and bitterness to balance out. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Southern Tier 2XONE finishes with a bitter tickle.

355 mL bottle. The commercial description is fairly accurate for the appearance and aroma. The flavour is overstated, however. The malt brings very little to the table, other than a fairly pleasing sweetness. This really doesn’t have the malt backbone to call this an ASA. The hopping is good - mostly tangerine, sweetened grapefruit, along with a touch of mango and pine. Enough bitterness to be an IPA, although perhaps not an IIPA. Alcohol is well hidden. Nice beer.

Bottle sample at American Strong Ale tasting at Beer&Beyond, Tel Aviv. Clear golden with low white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, a bit hoppy, skunky. Flavor of tropical fruits, medium hoppy bitterness, white wine, citrus, "green". Medium carbonation. Medium body. Skunky bitter hoppy aftertaste.

Lots of hops here, with citrus and some pine. Pours golden with decent head and lacing. Finishes bitter. Well-balanced without being super original. Seems more like an imperial IPA than an American Strong Ale. Tap at Black Squirrel.

Bottle from Corvallis Brew Supply, Eugene. Pours a slightly cloudy golden orange, lots of white head. Nose slightly floral, lots of citrus, nice. Body light and fluffy, finish surprisingly smooth, slight resinous notes. Not my thing in general, but on the mark.

I am sitting here waiting for my 0900 budget call to begin and hear nothing but crackling and static on the other end and it hits me that I never rated this one from last night. pours hazy gold, thin off white head. pretty decent pine and hop resin nose. taste has enough bitterness, some mild cracker malt. finish is piney and resiny. drying big body with mild booze burn. Nothing wild or crazy, just a solid DIPA.
