COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspiration can sometimes be found in the strangest of places. This eccentric brew started with a single flower from a hop named Hallertau. The delicate and spicy aroma present in the flower has been responsible for generations of great beers. Hallertau hops are to a brewer what an old tractor is to a farmer: reliable. Big Red expresses the nobility of Hallertau by placing it at the forefront of this Imperial Ale. Pour it into a snifter. A swirl allows the spicy aromas to come forward as a taste to the lips reveals the complex balance between sweet malts and the bitterness of hops. Big Red’s ability to please is as dependable as your grandpa’s old tractor. Please consume wisely. ABV lowered from 9.5%.

22oz bottle. Honey and dried fruit in the aroma. This bottle is a little old. But a little spicy hops and sweet malt as well. The flavor has a nicely strong bitterness and spicy hops. A touch of caramel but the malt is not that present for a red actually. Despite the aged character, this is not doing too bad. More of a barleywine, but a decent one.

Clear light red colour with small off-white head. Red berries, rose bud, alcohol, mild bitterness, mild sugar sweetness and Flavour is sweet floral bitterness, alcohol, This is definitely not my favourite style. As old MF’s ain’t my thing either.

Bomber from Chevy Chase in DC. Mostly clear reddish amber color with a large eggshell head and great thick lacing coating the glass. The aroma is very German in a way, like a strong marzen, with caramel, toast, and earthy herbal hops. Somewhat sweet and malty on the flavor with strong caramel notes, malt syrup, and a slight hop bitterness. Medium-full bodied and a bit syrupy on the mouthfeel. Pretty good as a whole, but Southern Tier, man, their beers are sweet.

8.5% in mine i think, not shure the writing is coming off and all scrambled like. Pours copper with red tones.Small head,good lacing. Big grainy german malty aroma.musty basement sweet grain. I think im getting the feel of the german malt or hops but if its the hops im not really going for this aroma too much,its a cloying smell almost warning you this is gonna be sweet.Not getting a balance here,just mostly sweet malt with mild -mediumbittering. Maybe i have an old bottle? Not caring for the taste of this really.Red ales are one of my favorates this is probably my least favorate out of about a dozen ive tried.

Pours hazy copper with a slight off-white head but decent lacing on the glass (looks like an IPA). Nose is a fairly standard sweet malt with a touch of cereal, hops, and skunk. Flavor is pretty much exactly the same as the nose, with a bit more herb to it, especially on the backside. Overall this is a pretty bleh strong ale.

Pours light copper with a large, fluffy off-white head. Smells incredibly malty; caramel, biscuit, chocolate. Tastes sweet, like caramel and chocolate, with a nice bitterness underneath. Medium-bodied with a smooth, creamy texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Southern Tier Big Red finishes with a lasting spicy bitterness.

Bomber from Green’s in Atlanta. Candy sugar sweet aroma with caramel, foral, citrus. Tastes are grass and citrus resin with pepper, caramel malts, bready cereal. Finishes bitter, spicy and slightly acidic. Alcohol fairly well hidden. Thick-ish palate with nice spike of carbonation.

Deep coppery amber in color with a tannish off white head. Flavor is deep and full with malt and bitterness, but hints of dried fruit are in there, too. Strong finish.
