Commercial Description:
Inspiration can sometimes be found in the strangest of places. This eccentric brew started with a single flower from a hop named Hallertau. The delicate and spicy aroma present in the flower has been responsible for generations of great beers. Hallertau hops are to a brewer what an old tractor is to a farmer: reliable. Big Red expresses the nobility of Hallertau by placing it at the forefront of this Imperial Ale. Pour it into a snifter. A swirl allows the spicy aromas to come forward as a taste to the lips reveals the complex balance between sweet malts and the bitterness of hops. Big Red’s ability to please is as dependable as your grandpa’s old tractor. Please consume wisely.

Thank you, Madsnp
Pours a nice red-orange with a small, creamy, beige film head. Aroma is sweet, caramel and sweet malts mixed well with a heavy dose of fruity hops. Medium carbonation, fine mouthfeel. Flavour is dry, fine hoppiness. Nicely lingering. Not as good as Green Flash’s Red Ale, but still nice.

Attractive amber pour...somewhat hazy. The nose releases an appetizing array of hop notes...grass, herbs, citrus. Flavors are a nice balance of sweet roasted caramel malt and herbal, grassy hoppiness. Very enjoyable easy-drinker, despite the huge alcohol.

(Bottled, 0.66l) Clear red-amber with a medium, quite tight head. Huge amounts of sweetish caramel in the aroma, with grassy hops. Grassy-hoppy, neutral-caramely-malty flavor with red currants. Medium-bodied, slicky palate with medium, quite smooth carbonation. Hides the alcohol well without being too sweet. Rather dull overall, didn’t really experience any "complex balance" between malt and hops.

Wow....a little too sweet for me. Aroma was all caramel. Pour was a medium amber with a 1 finger off white head. Taste was all malt. Strong caramel, brown sugar and maple syrup with just a hint of bitterness to hold off the sugar. While sweet, the alcohol in hidden well. If you are a malt lover you will love this beer.

22 oz bomber-pours a clear golden color w/a slight off white head & good lacing. Floral hop aroma. Has a pretty strong hop bite on the front end, but there is a nice sweet, roasted malt flavor to balance it out. Reminds me of a hoppy Amber Ale. Pretty good stuff, alcohol was very well hidden. Had no idea it was this high from the taste, but I could feel it hitting me. Long, hoppy finish.

(Bottle at Pikkulintu, Helsinki, on 2009-01-22) Deep amber. Clear. Dense white head that disappeared quite quickly. Hops, toffee and malts in aroma. Full bodied and little bit sticky palate with medium carbonation. Malts, hops. toffee, hint of boiled vegetables and some grassiness in flavour. Hoppy and bitter aftertaste.
