Indra (2018), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Jun 3, 2008 22oz. bottle. Hoppy aroma of fresh cedar, flowers, pine and spice, with a toasty, amber malt note and a hint of fruit in the background. Clear dark copper color with a lasting, foamy, off-white head. Well-balanced flavor profile, with a big smack of spicy hop bitterness up front, turning sweeter, more fruity and malty with toasty biscuit and caramel, and blending these elements at the finish, lending a high degree of drinkability despite the strength, and alcohol is nigh undetectable. Creamy, effervescent and resinous palate with a good, full body. Sort of a simple concept really, and not a complex hop or malt bill, but nicely done all the same. Interesting choice on the Hallertau also, most other beers of this type use Pacific Northwest varieties. ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA May 30, 2008 Todds tasting, Thanks Sell Tibet! Amber pours with many shades of red. Alcohol is well asked. Hops up front, with a toasted malty finish! Nice lingering bitter finish kyzr (1119), Belgrade, Montana, USA May 24, 2008 Clear red amber pour with nice frothy head. Some roast with a bit of hops on the nose. Flavor is sweet, malty with a nice warmth from the alcohol. Thicker body with a bit of bitterness towards the finish. redlight (1445), Winter Park, Florida, USA May 23, 2008 Malty, biscuity aroma with a slight toastiness and hints of pine. Pours golden amber, with reddish tones. The flavor is malty and toasty slightly nutty with hints of piney hops. Not bad. dkachur (2314), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA May 22, 2008 Bottle from Greenwood Gourmet Grocery in Greenwood, VA. Brownish red color with moderate head and good lacing. Big hoppy aroma with pine and nuts. Big hop taste that is vegetal with earthy, floral and piny notes. Some sweetness. docswife (27), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA May 21, 2008 Poured a clear amber with a thick white head. Aroma of floral and spicy hops. Bitter bite with spices and caramel. Well balanced and drinkable. Acknud (770), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA May 20, 2008 Spicy hops are well noted in this amber pour. Nice frothy head allows the aroma of hops to burst forth. Taste is malty with a definite hops bite. Very drinkable. donteatpoop (124), Youngstown, Ohio, USA May 18, 2008 Poured a clear amber with a nice finger of white head. Head left a nice lacing on the glass.
Smelled vaguely floral and malty.
The taste has an interesting up front bite that is quickly mellowed by spices and that flowery vibe.
The malts and hops balance nicely in the mouth.
Really a good beer, it actually improved a bit as it got warmer, the hope losing a bit of their up-front impact.
