Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Mar 18, 2008 Bomber. Poured clear, coppery medium orange with a short cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up rich, aged alcohol-laced caramels paired with earthy notes, graham cracker, and spices.. this grew on me as it approached room temperature, and I really liked it by the end. The flavor was strong with lightly-smoked carmel and toffee at the core.. sticky earthy bitterness joins up with peppery and floral notes at the edges, and some raw alcohol finds its way in here.. toasted spices and oak accent the warm finish nicely. Heavier-bodied with a few too many grainy residual sugars and a touch more warmth than I was looking for.. otherwise spicy and well-balanced. All in all a good’un! jeffwilliams11 (310), hooterville, Michigan, USA Mar 17, 2008 nice floral hop aroma, nice fresh flavor, nice and bitter. good malt tones, a little carmel, molasses flavor. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Mar 17, 2008 Ho hum just a beer. Pured a watery amber color with good hear. Aroma was earthy and citrusy. Flavor was much the same just a plain beer nothing standing out at all.
Cobra (1060), In a van, down by the river, Maryland, USA Mar 16, 2008 22 oz. brown, bomber bottle. No freshness date seen. Poured out a brilliant orange color, with a thin, tan colored, sticky head. Aromas are of jasmine tea, sweet caramel malts, some toffee, palm sugar. Flavors are of strong malts, some Special B, earthy hops. Excellent body, rich and smooth. Flavors dance on your tongue, enticing you to drink more. Alcohol is dangerously well hidden. This is one smooth beer gang. Probably the best beer I’ve had from Southern Tier so far. Odeed (1666), Bakersfield, California, USA Mar 13, 2008 awesome looking translucent orange body with a small whitehead.i get nice webbing on the glass as the head sits.funny enough i get some "big red" gum type aromas out if it.along with a big malty backbone.the flavors blend up much of the same.along with some allspice and a tiny citrus hop finish. RollinHard (748), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Mar 9, 2008 Thanks to theRealBastard for this. Pours a burnt orange with an offwhite head. Aroma of white chocolate, tons of grass, slight pine, and maybe a mixture of hay, jasmine, and whatever those plants are that smell kinda meaty when in bloom. Slight caramel flavor and a bit of white chocolate before the hops take over with their grassy, floral, almost pumpkin sweetness and just a weird pungnency. Finishes with a bit of grapefruit and grass clippings. Medium bodied somewhat creamy texture, fairly light on the tongue and not boozy. 9.5%? Man, can’t tell. This beer needs a LOT more malt to really be good though. Juelze (889), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Mar 8, 2008 Pours a rich amber color with thin white head that fades quickly. Aroma is light fruit, with almost a subtle berry nose to it as well mixed with some floral spicy hops. Taste is up front with hops and some fruit and slight spiciness to it. Pretty decent but a little lop--sided with the lack of malt backbone. Petrucci914 (574), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Mar 8, 2008 Pours a light amber color with a medium frothy head and some sticky lacing. Aroma is hoppy, a little caramel, and some pineapple. Taste is about the same. Could use some of the sweetness tuned down.
