scraff (1920), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Sep 29, 2007 Thanks for sharing Jason. Clear orange, thin white head. Nose was very nice with full on caramel coated grains and cereal, with soft underlying notes of milk chocolate. Flavor is spicy hopped and bitter, but gains nice balance with grainy caramel and chocoalte-like tones to round this out. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, bittersweet finish. Didn’t expect much, but was pleasantly suprised as this was very well made... garthicus (1215), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 29, 2007 Cheers jasonp, ruby colour, smokey malty aroma with a bitter hop taste, small head. I’d like to try it again todouble check! The aroma is very hoppy, lots of pine, fruity, some orange citrus, lots of caramel sweetness. The flavour has lots of caramel sweetness, the hops seem to be more muted in the flavour then in the aroma, still quite hoppy though, lots of pine, highly sweet. Big and chewy mouthfeel, medium body, high carbonation. Finishes long, hoppy and very sweet. I’m not sure balance was in mind when they made this one. Full out hops from start to finish.

mj (4971), Colorado, USA Sep 24, 2007 Nose of big, sticky and coarse maraschino cherry and wood malts, but also hoppy and rich and a little overly sweet. Good qualities include some fruit and resinous hops, much like fruit cocktail, and as always Southern Tier executes their recipes flawlessly, but really this just falls into that imperial red/strong ale category that I just don’t really get much out of. CapFlu (3480), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Sep 23, 2007 (12oz bottle) Sampled at the Post-Great Canadian Beer Festival 2007 in Victoria on September 8th, 2007. Courtesy of Presario. Red orange body with a strong hop aroma. Great hop base. I love some of these ASA’s in crossing over... argo0 (6842), Washington DC, USA Sep 23, 2007 (22oz bottle, thanks jasonp) Crystal clear amber body topped by medium beige head. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, cherry, chocolate, some berry. Taste is moderately sweet, chocolate, cherry, some berry, grapefruit, light alcohol. Smooth full body. Not sure how much I genuinely like it, but it is good, and quite unusual. kmweaver (2396), Sebastopol, California, USA Sep 22, 2007 22oz bottle, courtesy of jasonp. Thanks, Jason! Pours a bright, medium orange color; white head with good retention and lacing. Chewy sugar and tea-like malts in the aroma. Rough, dusty and spicy mouthfeel: very rough, very earth, with a light vanilla character poking through and underwhelming hops; slightly toastiness. Medium, sugar and grainy finish. Messy and astringent.
