Light hops were the first thing in the aroma. Grapefruit, elderflower, caramel, liquorish. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation and light alcoholic texture. Moderated bitter notes with some sweetness. Nice dry and bitter finish. Emil (6074), Copenhagen, Denmark

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 13, 2007 Red amber pour with very thin white head. No lacing at all. Nice color. Good hop character on the nose with slight spice and ever so sweet malt aroma. Hops are well integrated into the malt, as there is very little bitterness. Caramel comes forward as does dead on grain flavors. Medium bodied with a clean, dry finish. I was pleasantly surprised at this. boboski (1095), Alabama, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 24, 2007 Clear dark red/mahogany pour. Quickly diminishing, thin, near white head. Has a pretty glow about it, but looks the part of carbonated fruit juice with caramel extract. Fresh hops lead in the aroma. Big citrus, including grapefruit and tangelo precedes an intricate malt punch, mostly caramel. Some sawdust, earthiness, along with very soft and pleasant tropical fruits. Grassy as well. Flavor has a grassy-style bitterness that borders on excessive. The malt seems resistant to eradicate this bitterness. Light traces of yeast, grain husks and hops become more noticeable throughtout the quaff. At warmer temperatures the bitterness fades, much better nearing room temp. Big caramel and some lesser pale malts work their way into the foray. Finishes mostly bitter and moderately dry. Palate is average, medium bodied, a touch sticky. Mildly dissapointing, as I really love this brewery. This definitely didn’t live up to expectations that were admittedly too high. I certainly would like to give this another shot down the road. nimbleprop (844), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 16, 2007 Poured a transparent, fizzy looking copper with a clumpy white head. Smells of floral hops with a touch of clove. Taste is very nice and unique, malty, spicy, citrus, etc. Mouthfeel is not very heavy, which is nice, and hides the alcohol well. This a very unique beer, I love the style. jason (1621), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 11, 2007 Bottle shared by TomDecapolis, thanks. Poured a clear amber body with thin head. Aroma is of hops - very hoppy with malt and a candy like scent. Flavor was sweet with some un-named hops and that candy essence comming into play, still have not determined what it resembles. Very subtle and smooth. Finishes slightly dry. I thought this would be classified as an IIPA? Silphium (2124), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 10, 2007 Thanks to jah noth for the bottle. Hazy orange body, thick puffy off-white head. Bready, caramely aroma with requisite citrusy, piney hops. Smells like a sugared grapefruit. The body is characterized by potent grapefruit rind, soapy and earthy hops, and pine, backed by sweet toasty malts. Bitter finish with a punch of alcohol, a bit too much for this beer. Creamy palate. This is OK, not one of my standout American strong ales.
