Commercial Description:
Inspiration can sometimes be found in the strangest of places. This eccentric brew started with a single flower from a hop named Hallertau. The delicate and spicy aroma present in the flower has been responsible for generations of great beers. Hallertau hops are to a brewer what an old tractor is to a farmer: reliable. Big Red expresses the nobility of Hallertau by placing it at the forefront of this Imperial Ale. Pour it into a snifter. A swirl allows the spicy aromas to come forward as a taste to the lips reveals the complex balance between sweet malts and the bitterness of hops. Big Red’s ability to please is as dependable as your grandpa’s old tractor. Please consume wisely.

Bottle. Pours a clear brown that borders on crimson, with a medium white head that falls of quickly with a little lacing left. Clean almost medicinal aroma that borders on metallic. Thin to medium bodied and malty with a bit of sweetness and toast. Long bitter finish. Had I not known this was a Southern Tier beer I’d have never have guessed it. Quite weak for their usual standards, I was rather disappointed.

Bottle. Reddish brown color. Red grapes juice in the mushy aroma. Initial red grapes juice followed by a firm oily, earthy flowery hopbitterness. Notes of leather and plastic and alcohol. Not unpleasant, but there are some odd flavors.

Pours red with a thin pinkish head. Smells of sweet malt. Tastes of up front malt. Tihs is very one dimensional and boring.

Bottle, 9%. Weak caramelly aroma. Clear red amber colour. Very small white head. The flavour is quite caramelly, has some grassy hops, slightly biting. The aftertaste even has some caramel along with a good grassy hoppiness.

Amber color with a medium head. Aroma seems like a typical amber with a bit more sweetness. Flavor is honeyish with a classic amber/grainy thing going on. OK, but this seems like a basic amber or red ale with a bit more sugar - whats the point?

It is beautiful, red-golden and the head is huge and creamy. The aroma is hoppy, fruity with notes of malt and caramel. The flavour has a light sweetness and notes of malt, caramel, grapefruit and oranges. It is smooth/soft and yet dry with a light bitterness in the finish. It is very well balanced.

Bottle. Pours copper/red with little head. Aroma is hoppy, floral/eathy. Taste is hppy, has a little citrus but more bitterness and more earthty. Ends a bit malty, not too bitter. A nice ale.

22. Pours a crystal clear, dense-looking orangeish light amber. Dense, creamy tan head. Thick sedimentary sheets of lace coming down the side. Big doughy, bready, yeasty malt nose. Creamy, thick, sticky body. Biscuit, iced, tea, and brown bread mid-palate, with a long iced tea finish. Meh.
