Jan 23, 2008 Clear copper, with a smallish white head that leaves some OK lace. Aroma is fairly sweet, a bit musty, a bit peanut-buttery, with some slightly spicy notes. Fairly sweet in flavor, and very bitter, with some grassy hop undertones. And I can’t shake this sense of peanut butter--it’s not a bad thing, just unusual. Very good creamy mouthfeel.

Apr 23, 2009 Bottle@Home. Strong aroma, very fruity, light floral, hint of grass. Orange/red colour, beige head, good lace. Very sweet, fruity, bitter and grassy on swallow, very bitter hop finish. Oily, thick, warming, biting your tongue.

Sep 1, 2009 A dingy brown colored brew with a small but thick tan head and dry sticky lacing. Aroma is mostly fruit with spices. Flavor begins with lots of fruit and spices but has a nice tart hop bite that adds depth. Alcohol isn’t tasted or felt in warmth but the effects are there. Very well done.

Aug 23, 2006 Pours a clear amber orange with a nicely-lacing frothy white head. Aroma has a healthy dose of fresh citrus hops and rich caramel malt. Body starts with some sweet toasty crystal malt giving way to a more bitter citric fresh hoppiness before a crisp bittersweet finish. Nicely balanced and dangerously drinkable, but not as assertive as some double reds I’ve had. Thanks to Sliffy for the bottle!

Jul 28, 2006 Poured a clear deep copper color with small beige head. Big sweet malt with large hops of spice, floral, and light citrus. Some tangerine notes as well. Short sweet malt flavor with a long bitterness that starts from the very beginning.

Dec 21, 2008 From bottle. Light alcohol aroma with mild floral hop nose. Some sweet character and a bit of nuttyness and red licorice. Golden amber clear with thin off-white head. Medium-heavy body with medium carbonation. Starts sweet with caramel and light red licorice. Hoppy floral bitter finish with light chalky after. Good balance.

Jun 26, 2009 Greenville, SC - on tap at Barley’s Taproom. Dark copper pour with a nice white head that sticks around a while - good lacing. Sweet aroma of candied apples with a hint of vanilla. Flavor has some of the same vanilla notes with some mint, candied sugar and a hint of nuttiness in the back end. Sticky mouthfeel. A bit different, but enjoyable.

Feb 5, 2007 Buffy orange body with low visible carbonation and some notable viscosity. Small off-white head. Pungent spicy hop aroma, plus sweet grain, cherry, peach, light butterscotch, and prominent alcohol notes. Notes of tobacco and whiskey in the flavor with crusty, coarse hop flavors and medium-high bitterness in the finish. Comes together well.
