4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On-tap.Pours like midnight with no stars and comes with a tan head. Nose is fully a dark chocolate bar. Flavor is chocolate layered on chocolate. Just mounds of ever piece of dark chocolate you could imagine. Feel is smooth with a full carbonation. As beautiful as it was on the bottle. By far the most firm chocolate stout around. Very nice................On bottle. Pours pitch black of course, and very thick, with a very small line of tan head. Nose is amazing. Pure chocolate. Like putting your nose to a bar of heavily dark Belgian chocolate. Amazing. Flavor is unsurpassed as far as chocolate stouts go. Definitely can notice the bittersweet aspect there. I wonder how many bars they used. And who sat there and unwrapped all of them? Only thing I will say against the flavor is that it could use a bit more balance. Feel is thick on the liquid and even though the carbonation is low, the combination of the two come together beautifully and it just dances on the tongue. Another amazing brew on the Imperial Series. I intend to go back and get several more. Pure art.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown into black in the glass with a thin tan head which dissipated. Smell is of chocolate and chocolate. Tootsie roll as some describe it is spot on. Taste is of chocolate and nothing else. One dimensional. Mouthfeel is medium and creamy with just a touch of alcohol.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Appearance: Pours an opaque black body with a tiny, tiny beige head that, regardless of being so tiny, was rather short-lived.
Smell: Incredibly chocolatey! Sweet-smelling aroma of luscious chocolate ganache with a hint of vanilla and roast.
Taste: Incredibly chocolatey! Initially, I was worried this beer might fail to deliver like some other chocolate stouts have in the past, but this is NOT the case. Milk chocolate, chocolate malt balls, dark chocolate, and cocoa stitched together with vanilla notes, some roastiness, and a touch of spicy alcohol.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Mild carbonation. Tremendously creamy mouthfeel.
Drinkability: A very lovely imperial stout pumped up with chocolatey goodness. 11% but still an ease to drink.

had this at brannigan brothers in downtown lansing. when it was opened, the room filled with the smell of chocolate. thick and rich, this was like drinking liquid chocolate. i really canít say anything bad about this one. as it sat and warmed up, the richness improved, it was truly a wonderful stout.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle shared by kp ( i think) at the pre-sex gathering. Wow, I didnít care for this one at all. Aroma does have a lot of chocolate, but not my favorite kind. Smells like a "liquid tootsie roll" as one of the guys next to me commented. Flavor is way too sweet and just not a pleasure to drink at all. Far from my favorite type of imperial stout.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz bomber. Oily thick black pour with a thin dark brown head. The aroma is loaded with rich fudgey chocolate. Dark, and sweet and luxurious. Rich and chewy with an unctuous mouthfeel. Silky mouthfeel with a rich and lightly earthy bitterness. Moderate roastiness but the chocolate is the star here. A soft caramelly backnote as well. The chocolate here is sweeter than in other chocolate imperial stouts Iíve had recently. A fine dessert beer... itís sweet enough to stand up to anything. Tasty.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a black color with light brown head. Aroma is of fudge brownie, chocolate milk shake and chocolate malt. Taste is the same as well. This is an imperial stout, but to me, itís more of a dessert beer then something Iíd want to sit back and drink a bomber off. Itís a remarkable beer, but a one time experience for me. If I was single, this would be a good panty remover.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: AUG 11, 2009 22oz bottle poured into a snifter has a dark black color with minimal light transparency slow carbination and an initial dark tan head that peeled back to become a lace like coating on the top. aroma has loads of dark bakers chocolate, cream, chocolate malt, and resembles the nesquick chocolate milk. the most chocolate i have ever smelled in a beer. mouth feel is velvety smooth with just enough carbination to bring it all across. flavor is right in line with the smell bringing malts with chocolate and caramel to provide plenty of richness. sweetness is at a high level but necessary to provide the 11% abv. that is only noticeable in the slight warming it gives you and to balance out the bitterness of the chocolate. somewhat a one dimensional brew and it definitely rides the fence of being a little too over the top. all that said i did enjoy it quite much.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a pitch black with a quickly dissipating medium mocha head and some streamy lacing. Aroma is heavily chocolate, almost like brownie batter or chocolate cake. Taste is chocolate brownie, with some sweetness and is very smooth; no alcohol burn for this. A very enjoyable impy.
