3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
What a great stout! The beer pours a nice dark brown with moderate translucency. The chocolate taste is great without being overwhelming. A spectacular stout!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle. Thick black with small head. As expected, extremely chocolate forward with quite a bit of sweetness. Really enjoyable dessert beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
651 ml. bottle. Bottled 10/27/15. 10% ABV per the label. Pours a medium, thick, well retained beige head, with moderate lacing, over a clear black (SRM 40) body.....nose is chocolate, coffee, vanilla from the malts and additives......taste is sweet with light honey tones, chocolate, light coffee, hints of toffee/caramel, finishing with a roasted malt, hop combined bitterness.....mouth feel, medium heavy body, sticky, alcohol warmth present, slight astringency,, low carbonation. This is another of the trite style of dessert Imperial Stouts. It lacks the dried fruit characters such as plum, fig raisin, which are frequently found, and umami with beef, soy notes which are occasionally present. It is a well made, but simple beer. It might be good with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Better attenuation, less chocolate, a different yeast all might help improve. BJCP 7/3/12/4/6

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from a bomber. The dessert beer label doesn’t lie. It’s chocolate all the way through, bur dry enough that it’s not too sweet. It’s a bit of a one trick pony, but it’s a pretty great trick. Super drinkable and hides the booze (10%) admirably.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft. A rare miss for Southern Tier. Very sweet, heavy chocolate flavor, but with a distinct vegetal base. What was perfect for Pumking is completely inappropriate for Choklat. This should have used a base of caramel and malt. It tastes like they used the base for Pumking and simply added chocolate. Re-do please!

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JAN 16, 2016 Pours black with a one finger tan head with excellent lacing. Aroma is of dark chocolate, milk chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, vanilla, molasses, sweet malts, caramel, spicy chocolate, and some light booze has it warms. Taste is pretty similar to the aroma. Has a medium-full body with a creamy mouthfeel and a semi bitter, slightly dry, long, lingering finish. Overall, a tasty, pretty complex imperial stout that had some nice dark and milk chocolate notes.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from the bomber. Nice thick head, the aroma of cocoa is hard to mistake. Flavor is all about the cocoa. Nice bitterness like chewing dark chocolate. Palate is clean and thin. Finishes with a cocoa powered type residue, that is not offensive. Overall wow, what a great beer, I haven’t had anything like this since rouges chocolate beer.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours thick and black with barely a bubble on top, just a thin film of tan foam which disappears completely. The aroma is remarkable - it’s like a chocolate fountain. Flavor is also very chocolate, more dark and bitter than the smell would indicate, and warmed by some booze showing through. Finish is semi-bitter and lingering. Very good, as many of ST’s heavily flavored brews.
