“a stout of great contention” We are not the harbingers of truth as some may suggest but it may indeed be argued that our brewing philosophy is tantamount to a dessert with a bellicose past. How, you may ask, would a brewery determine a likeness to hard-coated custard? Our response is simple; it’s all in the power of history, and of course, the extra finesse needed to top off a contentious treat with definition.

By comprehending the labyrinthine movement of time, one would not think it strange to trace the errant path of an ordinary object such as a cream dessert only to discover that it has been the cause of cultural disputes since the middle ages. The British founders of burnt cream and from Spain, crema catalana, both stand by their creative originality and we respect that, but it was the French Crème Brûlée, amid the strife of contention, that survived to represent our deliciously creamy brew. 9.6% abv • 25º plato • 195º L • 22 oz / 1/6 keg 2-row pale malt / dark caramel malt / vanilla bean / lactose sugar / kettle hops: columbus / aroma hops: horizon

Bomber. Pours black with thin brown head. Aroma is Vanilla, Custard, burnt sugar pretty much exactly like creme brûlée. Taste is thick and sweet like caramelized sugar, vanilla and marshmallow / eggy custard. Finish is a little bitter but assume it will settle down as it warms up. I like it.

Poured to snifter as advised on bottle. Dark brown clear syrupy appearance without any head. Nose is clearly dessert up front with burnt sugar and vanilla. Very sweet with immediate alcohol kick on top of the pronounced vanilla and burnt caramel. Pretty thick mouthfeel.

Tap at Clubhouse BFD. Pours pitch black. Flavor is super sweet well, creme brulee, sweet vanilla icing. As for flavor, wow, smoky, vanilla icing, cream cheese frosting, some roasted malts. Dessert beer. This is sweet. Don’t treat this like a regular Stout. It’s super sweet. You better be in the mood for this bad boy.

650 ml bottle. Pours a near opaque brown with a short-lived medium mocha head. Aromas are burnt sugar, Bailey’s, and alcohol. Tastes are akin to a creme liqueur like Baileys, coffee, and some alcohol. Robust, warming alcohol, and a medium sweet/alcohol finish. The mix of sweetness and heavy alcohol did not work for me.

I’ve had this numerous times from a bottle. Great adjunct beer taste and smells like creme brulee. Would go great with ice cream.

Got a growler of this last year at Tiger Mart: Wall of Beer in Clemson, South Carolina - have been waiting for it to appear again since. Wonderful desert beer. Really does taste like you let a spoonful of New Orleans’ Creme Brulee melt in your mouth and with a nice alcohol kick.
