“a stout of great contention” We are not the harbingers of truth as some may suggest but it may indeed be argued that our brewing philosophy is tantamount to a dessert with a bellicose past. How, you may ask, would a brewery determine a likeness to hard-coated custard? Our response is simple; it’s all in the power of history, and of course, the extra finesse needed to top off a contentious treat with definition.

By comprehending the labyrinthine movement of time, one would not think it strange to trace the errant path of an ordinary object such as a cream dessert only to discover that it has been the cause of cultural disputes since the middle ages. The British founders of burnt cream and from Spain, crema catalana, both stand by their creative originality and we respect that, but it was the French Crème Brûlée, amid the strife of contention, that survived to represent our deliciously creamy brew. 9.6% abv • 25º plato • 195º L • 22 oz / 1/6 keg 2-row pale malt / dark caramel malt / vanilla bean / lactose sugar / kettle hops: columbus / aroma hops: horizon

Not really a great aroma, mostly burnt sugar and condensed milk. Not really my favorites individually, let alone in my brew. The flavor is a complete replica of the aroma and the taste is far to sweet for me, but it was good that I just got this out of the way instead of hyping it like I’ve seen this done so many times.

I enjoy sweet beers, and especially milk stouts, but I think this is my boundary. These guys make some of the best "flavored" brews out there, and this is no exception. Dark black pour with minimal brown foam. Vanilla and alcohol dominate the nose with just a bit of malt-syrup coming through. Mostly vanilla initially in the sip, followed by a nice cooked sugar and dark chocolate finish. Very creamy mouthfeel, and any aftertaste is just pleasantly sweet.

Bottle from convenience store. Pours black with a medium tan head. The aromas are chocolate, vanilla, light coffee. The mouthfeel is silky smooth with a heavy body and low carbonation. Loved this one! Cheers!

Sweet, coffee, chocolate....it's more of a spiked creme brûlée coffee. It's good ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

An awesome, incredibly unique beer. Pours a deep black with a tan head. Smells amazing, tiramisu, Kahlua, vanilla and caramel. Taste is boozy, with lots of kahlua, amaretto and vanilla, with a liquor heat in the finish. Would be amazing as a beer float. Had in the bottle.

On tap at Middletown Fine Wine and Spirits. Pours dark brown to black with a tan head. Aromas of caramel and burnt sugar. A lot of caramel. Flavors the same with some coffee and chocolate. Caramel is very big here. Very nice depth of flavors. A little alcohol warmth at the end. Very nice on tap!

Taste like Creme Brule for sure. Very sweet. It’s a good desert beer if there’s such a thing. Also has taste of roasted sugar. Slightly nutty near the finish.

Bottle. Pours pitch black with a fading light brown head. Aroma of vanilla, white chocolate, really sweet. Taste is vanilla, sweet caramel, white chocolate, custard, burnt sugar on the finish. Tastes and smells like a creme brulee although it's very sweet. Medium carbonation, sticky oily mouthfeel.

Tiefschwarz, hellbraune Krone. Nase nach gebrannter Creme, Vanille. Geschmack nach Caramel, Kaffelikör, Vanille, sehr süss und im Abgang leicht rauchig und bitter mit dänischer Tabaknote. Weltklasse. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
