When empirical and creative impulses collide, the result is often timeless. The classic utility-art aesthetic of the coffee maker is an example of design and engineering working in concert. It is through similar cooperation that the simple bitter cocoa bean is transformed into a sweet treat. As scientists, our brewers utilize their materials to exacting standards. As artists, they couldn’t resist the temptation to combine the best flavors of two of our highly acclaimed Blackwater Series Imperial Stouts, Jahva and Choklat. Alone each is perfect, but together as Mokah, they are an inimitable expression of two of the world’s most sought after flavors. Enjoy Mokah stout with - or as - your favorite dessert! Cheers!

It pours a dark black with a light cream colored head. Smells exactly like chocolate syrup chocolate milk when going heavy on the syrup. Really good aroma. The taste somewhat matches the aroma. You still get the syrup flavors. Not much coffee. The alcohol definitely shows in the back taste. Not too much. But definitely there. Chocolate milk is the basis here. All the way. Not bad.

Pours cola brown with thin head and minimal lacing. Aroma is very faint and muted, but thin notes of chocolate and coffee. Taste is dark cocoa and coffee, pleasant hints of caramel and malt. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A fine stout lacking only in appearance and viscosity in my opinion. It looks thin and is a bit thin on the tongue. I’ve been overall impressed with Southern Tier and especially so with the Blackwater Series.

black with a tan head; fantastic aroma - mainly chocolate with notes of coffee and roasted malts and whisps of alcohol; great, smooth, chocolaty flavor with coffee notes; dark roasted malt and light alcohol notes; malt is just slighty sweet; bitter chocolate finish with light, warm alocohol notes

Great chocolate and coffee aromas, light stopping thick appearance. Great sweet flavors of chocolate with hints of coffee and almost a coriander or some sweet herb. Great after taste.

Thinner in appearance than many big RIS but thicker and gloopy mouthfeel. Oily. Like a melted vanilla/chocolate milkshake. So sweet. Blueberry/raspberry yogurt aftertaste. Caramelised Starbucks frappuccino. Way too sweet for me, gets fatiguing quite quickly.

Dark black. Light white head. Aroma is chocolate vanilla. Taste is chocolate more than coffee. A bit syrupy like all the Blackwater. Ok.

UPDATED: SEP 17, 2015 Very deep chocolate aroma and flavor. Almost tootsie roll like. Malty but not super malty for a dark imperial. Full flavored smooth and balanced. Get a bit of an odd bitter finish that is a bit off, but is a solid imperial stout. A notch or two below the top imperials though. NOTE: last night had 8oz of this and 8oz of a 5%abv saison. Have a slight headache, after way little beer last night. Feel like some of the off flavors and lighter palate for how malty this is may be some adjuncts or residual "tails" from a high gravity beer. Not sure if they are trying to make a "top" beer cheaply? But should not feel any impacts from how little I had. Just a note to my future self. Keeping my rating at 3.8, but would be reluctant to have again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Milk chocolate, coffee, malt, and straw aroma. Dark brown with nice tan head. Sweet chocolate milk, malt, and bitter herbal coffee and hay flavor. Nice body. Sweet but not a sugar bomb like the Creme Brulee - excellent.

Black in color with a thick, frothy head that hugs the side of the glass making great lacing. Definetly can smell the chocolate and coffee. Aroma also has some licorice and bready notes. Slick on the palate that leaves a long drawn out finish. A tad bit salty. I like that the coffee is well balanced with the chocolate. There is a faint taste of alcohol which should be expected for a 10% beer. This is warming me up inside on a chilly day . Perfect combanation with the weather.

I guess I should have tried the singleton Jahva and Choklat first. Alas, this one is all-in on aroma and flavor. Almost too much richness. Pours dark, almost black, with thin, tan head. Heavy in both chocolate and coffee aromas, it’s delightful. The flavor is where there’s almost too much going on. I like things simple, so a good imperial stout is my favorite. Adding both choc and java puts this into some kind of different realm, where it’s tasty and all, but getting away from why I love beer. no doubt this one’s for dessert!
