22 ounce bottle pours clear and black with almost no head and very little carbonation. Aroma has caramel and spice. Sweet at first with a light bitterness in the finish. Thick texture and the finish goes from bitter to a long sweet finish.

Thank to the bartender at Prontos in Thorndale, PA for recommending this winner. Dark brown pour with minimal head. Aromas of baked pumpkin pie, cinnamon and nutmeg. Taste is sweet pumpkin and dark chocolate with a smooth bitter sweet malty finish. Creamy full bodied mouth feel with medium carbonation. This beer is awesome. It is unbelievably smooth for 10% ABV. Hands down best I’ve had in the the style. If you like imperial stouts give this a shot.

Bottle. Pours mostly black with off white head. Nose is lots of spice. Allspice and cinnamon. Taste is similar. One of the better pumpkin beers.

Dense black pour with a minimal tan head. Aroma of Pumpkin pie spice. The flavor is pumpkin pie, some chocolate and there’s a stout in here too! Smooth, not too sweet but still something you want to sip slowly.

tap - This brew has a strong pumpkin spice aroma. It’s sweet, spicy, and roasty with kind of a candy flavor. Too much candy. There’s a roasty, sweet finish. It’s a tasty brew and smells great but the sweetness can be a bit overpowering.

A nice pumpkin stout here, usual characteristics, plenty of pumpkin and the accompanying spices such as allspice, nutmeg, ect, also a nice toasted marshmallow note. The toasted marshmallow and crust give it a unique spin from much of the competition, overall i liked it. Not my favorite for the style but its in the top 5.

17 Nov 2015, bottle. dark brown/black. nose is sweet pumpkin pie. spice is just right, pumpkin is strong and spices aren’t too big. med body and mildly fizzy. it really is pumpkin pie beer. you can actually taste the pumpkin, the spice isn’t too strong, and you can even taste the pie crust. and all this on top of moderate stout malt. outstanding!

Pours a dark chestnut brown color that appears pitch black and opaque in the glass with a one finger, light beige head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Decent retention with sporadic spotty lacing left behind. Surprisingly huge spicy pumpkin pie presence in the nose with some robust roasted malt and sweet desert-like chocolate notes. It’s Southern Tier so I shouldn’t be that surprised but the aroma is almost as pumpkin forward as Pumpking. I was expecting more stout character by that takes a back seat to the autumnal spices and pumpkin purée. Hints of clove, ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon along with pumkin pie filling and roasted pumkin seeds. It takes a while to open up but once it does, there’s subtle roast and sweet malts underneath. Hints of sweet and dark chocolate along with oatmeal and robust coffee bean. Smells very interesting but I wish that the stout notes were a bit stronger. Thankfully the flavor is more of a mix of pumkin and stout notes. Dry and roasted with a robust dark malt presence that’s countered by sweeter malts and strong pumkin pie flavors on the back end. Slightly smokey with burnt sugar and deeply roasted malt but its not acrid or harsh at all. Hints of gourmet coffee, burnt toast, bittersweet dark chocolate and oatmeal followed by sweeter chocolate flavor, toffee and nut before a strong pumpkin ale flavor in the finish. Spicy and sweet with ginger, clove, cinnamon and nutmeg along with pumpkin purée/pie filling, toasted pumpkin seeds and vanilla. Nicely balanced and whereas the aroma felt like a pumpkin beer with subtle stout character, the flavor is more stout-like with lingering pumpkin pie sweetness. ABV is excellently masked, resulting in another dangerously drinkable entry in the Backwater series.

From the bottle poured a black brew with a nice brown head. Full bodied. Aromas of the usual pumpkin spice, and toasty malt. Malty, pumpkin spice flavor with a nice hop presence.
