4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that died down, leaving a bit of lacing on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of pumpkin spices are present in the nose—nutmeg seems to stand out in particular along with hints of cinnamon.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and has lots of pumpkin spices, although the cinnamon seems a little stronger and there are also notes of pumpkins and hints of roasted malts. As the beer begins to warm up, the spices stand out in the finish.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied and a little smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation. The pumpkin spices lend a little dryness in the finish.
O: This beer hides its alcohol rather well so it is relatively easy to drink, although my personal preference would be to have a little more pumpkins to balance with the spices.

Poured into a snifter.
3.25 A: Black color. Just about one finger of frothy beige head that falls pretty quickly and leaves no lacing.
4.5 S: Nose got it right. Perfect mix of actual pumpkin, pumpkin spices, and dark, chocolate notes. Cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, but I can’t pick up much clove. Chocolate and caramel richness, roasted malts, and molasses. Really nice.
3.75 T: Taste is good, but falls short of the nose. There isn’t as much maltiness or sweetness as I would have expected. It might even fall on the side of bitter with the roastiness still showing viability. There’s some chocolate, caramel, and molasses, but not enough. Again, the real pumpkin flavor is always welcome and tastes great along with the spices mentioned in the nose.
3.5 M: Heavier medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Could use a bit more creaminess, but good enough here.
4.0 D: I love pumpkin beers, but there are so few really tasty ones out there. Fortunately, this is one of them. Wish I had some Pumking to chase this with.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a dark brown, nearly black color, with a slight redish tint. It has a nice tan head, with strings of lace. Aroma is pumpkin and mild spice mixed with a little chocolate. Taste is malty with pumpkin, and roasty with chocolate. The spice is not over done, finish leaves light cocoa and slight bitter pumpkin. Very good beer.

Bottle from LCBO, maybe 7-8 months old. Pours black with some cola hints on the edges. minimal lacing and no head. Nose is spice cake. Flavours of spice cake, gingerbread, some dark fruit. Flavours are medium sweet and light/medium bitter. Medium oily body with medium carbonation and a lasting spiciness to the finish.

Bomber to a tulip. Dark brown /black with thin foamy tan head. Fall pumpkin and spice on the nose. Nice spice profile and balance of imperial stout malt with a sweet flaky crust to finish... Tasty seasonal offering.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at Rogue Island, Providence. It pours near black with a small beige head. The nose is sweet, sweet roast, pumpkin pie, treacle, honey roast squash, cheerios, rivita and cocoa. The taste is bitter - sweet, chocolate doughnut, pumpkin pie, charred wood, earth and icing sugar with a sweet, warming finish. Medium - full body and moderate carbonation. Sweet and a bit artificial, but not without its merits.

Bomber. This is the 2nd of the Blackwater Series I have had. Pours dark black with amber/tan head. The smell is different. Not bad, but I haven’t had any stouts to date that really smelled of fall desserts like this one did. Sweet cinnamon, nutmeg, all spice type of smell. I can’t really put my finger on it. It’s good though. Thin on the palate, doesn’t feel like a thick stout, but taste is wonderfully "different". If you like stouts from Southern Tier this is a must try.
