1.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20
Aroma of pumpkin, allspice, some roast and a little cinnamon/sugar. I was really expecting a stronger aroma. Appearance is black with a dense off white head. Taste has tons of spice and some roasty hops. Not very complex flavor. No pumpkin whatsoever in the taste. Watery, tastes kind of like burnt, bland pumpkin pie or bad gas station coffee with flavored creamer in it. I donít understand the high rating - I found this hard to drink. Palate is terrible; I have never had a more watery palate on such a high ABV beer. I normally donít trash beers like this, but I have to do it this time. Complete waste of money. I think Iím done with Southern Tier. The only beer of theirs I have liked is Unearthly.

I poured it from the bottle into a glass. It pours black and brown with some tan head and lacing. The aroma is pumpkin, vanilla, spice, and leather. The taste is pumpkin, vanilla, chocolate, spice, dark fruit, and booze. Itís smooth, oily, and boozy. Thereís a lot going on here. This is a very nice sipping beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is a 2015 bottle. Dark beer with some mahogany hues when held against the light. Creamy beige head that shrank to a lasting ring. Bitter chocolate and dry spices in the nose. Very rich beer with dark, bitter chocolate, a bit of lactose, and a firm cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger spice that grows at it warms. Okay flavored stout.

This beer tastes near awful. The tasted in the glass were not at all complimentary. We gave it the rating we did to respect the pallet and the pumpkin that we tasted and smelled.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
DATE: October 13, 2016... OCCASION: nearly 300 miles of traveling today and in need of a dark one... GLASSWARE: Affligem chalice... pours a wickedly black, flat cola with a swiftly thinning brown head that leaves a random streak... when jostled, the glass does produces some bubbles.... first impressions are of intense nutmeg, pumpkin innards, thick malty roasted bread, musty vegetable, and odd spices like ginger, peanut, and sugars... in the throat, bursting with warmth... at the teeth, a tingle... enough carbonation to elicit response... BIG and robust at its finish... first flavors include vanilla, pumpkin, nutmeg, hazelnut, ginger, cereal grain, and green bean/asparagus... as time goes on, this beer picks up speed and strength, sipping like a red wine while sporting an earthy, grainy finish that makes for a worthwhile, powerful stout that nonetheless is one of the lesser Southern Tier offerings I have had...

Great googily moogily at the indulgence...Pumpkin pie slathered in Hershey syrup with a huge dollop of Cool Whip on top. BIg, sweet, boozy and unapologetic. Good if you like nutmeg. Luckily I do. Slight bitterness on the fade, but holy hell is this brew a dessert in a bottle.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Aroma is pumpkin spice, it smells like my candle in the living room. Bready, pumpkin pie, nutmeg, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger. Appearance is dark brown, light brown head, poured thin. Taste is pumpkin pie, spices, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloying, booze, I donít like this. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, pumpkin pie aftertaste. Overall, a big fat no on this.
