Pours black with a thin dense head. Pumpkin, baked sweet potato, coffee, and dark chocolate notes. Moderately bitter. Medium to full body with a creamy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Nice unique take on a pumpkin beer.

On tap at Quarry House Tavern in Silver Spring, MD. Very dark, but not quite opaque, ruby-black with a thin khaki head and good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, pumpkin pie and cocoa. Taste of roasted malt, pumpkin pie spices, chocolate and pumpkin fruit. Medium body and medium/high carbonation with a nice tingly mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Aroma is dark malt with some pumpkin and spice. Appearance is a dark brown with Tan head. Taste is a wave of spice that turns dark malt and finishes with da spice. Palate is pumpkin pie spice. Overall, a good beer. Would like to try barreled. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours nearly black with some light through the edges. Minimal head and lacing. Aroma is pumpkin pie and spices. Mouth is medium, thinner than expected. Taste is amazing. Great pumpkin flavor and spices, excellent finish worth some toasted finish. Well balanced. 8.6% ABV.

Dark clear brown pour with fair khaki head. Doesn’t pour as dark as I would have expected. Cocoa roasted creaminess mixed with pumpkin pie spice. Really quite good. Better than boxcar I think. Mild abv heat, but very tolerable. Pretty damn delicious.

Aroma of pumpkin, allspice, some roast and a little cinnamon/sugar. I was really expecting a stronger aroma. Appearance is black with a dense off white head. Taste has tons of spice and some roasty hops. Not very complex flavor. No pumpkin whatsoever in the taste. Watery, tastes kind of like burnt, bland pumpkin pie or bad gas station coffee with flavored creamer in it. I don’t understand the high rating - I found this hard to drink. Palate is terrible; I have never had a more watery palate on such a high ABV beer. I normally don’t trash beers like this, but I have to do it this time. Complete waste of money. I think I’m done with Southern Tier. The only beer of theirs I have liked is Unearthly.

Rich black color; Medium to heavy creamy body; Aroma of toasted malt, pumpkin, dark chocolate, & some nutmeg; Flavor of roasted sweet malt, dark chocolate, pumpkin, some vanilla, and spice; Nicely balanced; Not one of their top tier stouts - but very nice.

Bottled. Pitch black with little head from a gentle pour. Aroma is amazing. Pure pumpkin beer. Lots of cinnamon, pumpkin pie, whipped cream. Flavor is lots of cinnamon, more of that pumpkin pie. Like a more tame version of pumking. Very little stout character in this one. The main stout quality I see is a slight malty roastedness in the finish.
