Tap at the brewery, smells great, a nice full body and a good smooth bourbon taste, the booze does come through, this one was tasty

The pour is a dark copper w/out a much of a head & Zero lacing. The aroma is dominated by the sweet bourbon flavor. The taste is also centered around the bourbon flavor which really mellows the hops. Itís exceptionally smooth at 14%. Impressive stuff!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at the brewery. Pours a hazy reddish-amber color with a small, resilient off-white head. Aroma of caramel, vanilla, raisins, bourbon, toasted oak, brown sugar, figs, and cream. Flavor hit all the same notes. Medium-full bodied, with a smooth, sweet, mildly boozy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Rich, tasty, and smooth. Not as boozy as others have indicated. Maybe an older vintage was on or something. I recently tried the Oak Aged version and this is a much better treatment.

Big in every way. A boozy Malthus sweet aroma with some citrus and pine. The flavor had the Bourbon and wood up front, lots of vanilla and some fruity esterís and booze. This is very potent, not for the timid.

Pours a rich amber with a thin white head that dissipates quickly. The aroma is full of toffee, barrel, vanilla, raisin, apple, and grape. On the palate it is sweet but thinner than I had hoped. Okay.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at blind tiger during jury duty. Pours a deep, murky muddy brown body with no head, no lacing. Aroma is dark fruits - raisins and prunes, bourbon and musk. Mouthfeel is medium to thin with notes of bourbon, prune juice, raisins, and a strong alcohol warming in the finish. A bit too boozy, otherwise this would have been a home run.

Snifter pour if hazed deep amber with half finger head. Nose is rich, sweet, boozy, caramel. Flavor is boozy from the bourbon, sweet caramel malt, heavy, rich, not amazing though. Medium body with light lacing... Not my favorite...

[4750-20120819] Tap. Mild orange and grainy toasted malt aroma. Clear, amber brown body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Super sweet boozy bourbon barrel and toasted wood malt flavour. Full body is Super Boozy. Did I mention the alcohol? And the punch in the kisser? Yeah, that. (7/4/6/3/14) 3.4

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From growler. Thin off-white head of dense and creamy bubbles. Rich bourbon, caramel, butterscotch, sweet malts and some raisins in the aroma. Color is a dark crimson mahagony. Wow, super smooth flavor. More butterscotch, some vanilla, lots of caramel and a bit of dry roastyness behind it all. Noticable alcohol presence and warming but not as powerful as I would have expected. Good body. Not real thick and syrupy as you might expect from a 14% barleywine. Finishes smooth and slick. A very good barleywine that is not overpowering bourbon wise and goes down way to smooth and easy. I can see myself getting into trouble with this one. Prototypical headache brew!

(growler from Beers of the World - Henrietta, NY) Deep red pour with a very thin head. Though the growler was about a month old, it still had some carbonation to it. Big sweet vanilla and bourbon nose with lots of malts and a light oak finish. Flavor is equally as sweet. Malt and vanilla dominate the start mixing with a smooth and sweet bourbon and wood finish. Bourbon on the aftertaste but a very light alcohol burn.
