SoLan (1369), Orlando, Florida, USA Mar 22, 2009 Black/dark brown, off white head. A ton of dark/bittersweet chocolate. Imperial stout with chocolate. Solid brew but too much chocolate for my taste. You better have some keebler de-luxe grahams on hand when drinking this brew. njbfr (105), New Jersey, USA Mar 22, 2009 Black with a thin cinnamon/tan head. Aroma is incredible! Huge milk chocolate fills the nose with a slight roasted malt character underneath. Chocolate malt coupled with the Belgian bittersweet chocolate dominate the initial taste. Soon followed by more pleasant bitterness from other roasted malts and hops. Completely mouthfilling and pleasant throughout. Carbonation adds well to the creaminess even though there is little head or lacing. Very, very sweet but hides the alcohol completely. Very impressed. If you can find it, give it a shot, otherwise stick to Rogue’s chocolate stout as this is expensive and only worth having when you have the time to truly savor the entire bottle. Top notch chocolate stout. LilKem (1210), Marietta, Ohio, USA Mar 21, 2009 Impressive chocolate stout. Lots of chocoalte malt, bittersweet chocolate, and vanilla hints in this. Some carmel, toffee, and baked cake taste. Not sure how they accomplished this. Very solid stout. kiefdog (1534), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 21, 2009 Bomber courtesy of indiapaleale. Pours a murky dark brown to black with one finger creamy toffee colored head that settles slowly. Aroma is a punch in the mouth of bittersweet chocolate and sweet chocolate syrup some fruity esters, hints of coffee, cream, vanilla, wood. Flavor is another punch of sweet and bittersweet chocolate, chocolate syrup, some light dark ripe fruity esters, hints of vanilla and cream. Generally medium to full body with a pleasing malt chocolate finish. If you want a TON of chocolate in your beer, this is the one to have. joergen (8429), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 20, 2009 Bottle at home.
Pitch black coloured with a small beige head.
Sweet and light roasted aroma dominated by chocolate with notes of coffee beans and vanilla.
Sweet and roasted flavour of chocolate, coffee beans and vanilla with notes of hops and liquorice.
Roasted and hoppy finish.
dmschefke (371), Eastpointe, Michigan, USA Mar 18, 2009 Pours a very dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is of nice roasted malt and a rich dark chocolate. Taste is very plesant of an expensive chocolate, slight bitterness, roasted malt, and just enough sweetness to not dominate it. This is a nice stout that is slightly different than your average stout. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Mar 17, 2009 A wonderful beer. Nose of chocolate truffles with some underlying roasted malts and bitterness. Pours almost black with some wonderful brown undertones and a nice brown head. Initial flavors of chocolate truffles followed by minimal roast and some bitterness most likely from the bitter sweet chocolate - go figure. A touch of hop bitterness in the finish as well. Smooth and nice, as it warmed it became very pleasant. This would get girls to take their clothes off for sure.
