Dec 31, 2008 Black pour. Tan head. Aroma is nothing but a great dark bar of chocolate. Flavor follows suit with chocolate, sweetness and a hint of roasted malt. Silky and smooth. A winner. Can i get some more please?!

Dec 31, 2008 Bomber. Pours a viscous black with a thick tan head. Chocolate nose, big time, but seems like a mix of sweet milk chocolate and bittersweet baking chocolate. Hints of anise. Velvet mouthfeel, absolutely decadent chocolate flavors - the nose didn’t lie - nice bitter bite late. Just a bit of the alcohol sneaks in, but not enough to detract. Delish, but why not in a smaller bottle? Much like a rich chocolate truffle, just a bit is more than enough to sate.

Dec 30, 2008 Updated: Jan 24, 2009Sampled on draft at D’s in Regent Square this beer poured thick and black with a small brown head. The aroma was incredibly strong sweet chocolate syrup. The flavor was a marvelous blend of chocolate syrup, toasty malts, a touch of molasses and a hint of port wine. The finish was long sweet dark chocolate. Beergasm!

Dec 29, 2008 Gorgeous! This nose could fool you melted hi-end belgian chocolate. Perfume, vanilla, floral elements. The best smelling choco stout I have ever tasted. The palate does not disappoint either. All of the aromas follow through on the tongue. Sophisticated, powerful, yet layered and elegant. Awesome dessert beer!

Dec 27, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours pitch black with a half inch tan head. Aroma of hershey syrup with a tad bit of hop and yeast. Flavor of chocolate ganache with a somewhat dry hop finish. Tried this one last year and did not think it was sweet enough. They corrected that this year. Fantastic brew.

Dec 27, 2008 Pours black with a bronw head. Huge chocolate aroma with caramel, roasted malt, and wood. Taste was very rich, dark chocolate with caramel and roasted malt. Underlying wood flavors. Alcohol is well hidden, but warms intensely after each sip. Thick, extremely sticky mouthfeel. Flavor tastes like real chocolate, and not artificial chocolate. 22oz is too much for one sitting, so its better to share the bottle. Due to the overwhelming chocolate, and large bottle this beer loses drinkability. Still, an excellent beer, if not a novelty brew.

Dec 26, 2008 22 oz. bottle shared with my wife (75-25). Pours very dark brown in color with a small tan head that diminishes quickly. The aroma rivals that found in some of the finest chocolate desserts. It is an interesting mix of sweeter milk chocolate and the bitterness from dark chocolate. I find myself just enjoying the aroma and not drinking the beer. Once I began drinking, I was treated to more wonderfully chocolate flavor as well as some roast, coffee, and a hint of dark fruit. As it warms, a nice bitterness develops in the finish. Medium to full bodied with a creamy smooth palate. Although this is mainly one dimensional, its so good at that dimension that I enjoy this immensely.

Dec 26, 2008 Jet black color with no head. Satisfying aroma of chocolate, roasted malts. Creamy on the palate with a roasted malt flavor and lots of chocolate at the back end. Very little alcohol taste. Just blissful!
