Southern Tier Choklat

Pours black with a bronw head. Huge chocolate aroma with caramel, roasted malt, and wood. Taste was very rich, dark chocolate with caramel and roasted malt. Underlying wood flavors. Alcohol is well hidden, but warms intensely after each sip. Thick, extremely sticky mouthfeel. Flavor tastes like real chocolate, and not artificial chocolate. 22oz is too much for one sitting, so its better to share the bottle. Due to the overwhelming chocolate, and large bottle this beer loses drinkability. Still, an excellent beer, if not a novelty brew.

22 oz. bottle shared with my wife (75-25). Pours very dark brown in color with a small tan head that diminishes quickly. The aroma rivals that found in some of the finest chocolate desserts. It is an interesting mix of sweeter milk chocolate and the bitterness from dark chocolate. I find myself just enjoying the aroma and not drinking the beer. Once I began drinking, I was treated to more wonderfully chocolate flavor as well as some roast, coffee, and a hint of dark fruit. As it warms, a nice bitterness develops in the finish. Medium to full bodied with a creamy smooth palate. Although this is mainly one dimensional, its so good at that dimension that I enjoy this immensely.

Jet black color with no head. Satisfying aroma of chocolate, roasted malts. Creamy on the palate with a roasted malt flavor and lots of chocolate at the back end. Very little alcohol taste. Just blissful!

Black pour with a frothy, tan, 1 finger white head. Rich milk chocolate aroma with some vanilla, gram cracker, a faint roast. Heavy cream and cocoa flavor with a touch of molasses, and coffee. Creamy full mouth feel with soft carbonation.

Pours a thick and viscous opaque black color. Head is quite thin with only islands of swirly foam retained. Some spotty lacing as glass drained. Upfront and assertive aromas of creamy miilk chocolate, vanilla cream, molasses along with more laid back notes of dried dark fruits, licorice and a touch of coffee. Palate was moderately full and slick. Not as thick as one may expect from a big stout such as this. Nicely done subdued level of carbonation seems to bring out the creamy chocolate flavors better. Flavor profile is dominated of course by the rich dark chocolate notes amped up by the 11% alcohol. Chocolate flavors meld with supportive tastes of raisins, vanilla bean, toffee, molasses and black licorice. Some background hop spice is noted in the finish cutting into the sweetness a touch. One big, powerful chocolate Impy Stout.

Bottle. Pour is not surprisingly pitch black with a tan to near brown colored head. Aroma is dark chocolate, roasted malts, flavored and sweetened coffee, and chocolate cake. Very rich aroma of chocolate and not the Hersheys type smell. Almost of chocolate truffles. Taste is also rich chocolate, more chocolate cake, dark roasted malts, and chocolate truffles. Body is creamy and smooth with dense carbonation. The alcohol is there but did not really interfere with this one. Only a light warmth from it to be honest. Finishes with slightly more bitter notes with dark chocolate, roasted malt, light coffee and that ever present chocolate cake. Very tasty and not as obnoxious as the Creme Brulee ended up being.

Poured a nice black color with nice tan head. Aroma is chocolate duh. Flavor was dark chocolate with the 11% alcohol covered up very well. Very smooth and delicious.

1Pt bottle: Poured a very smooth black color with absolutly no head to speak of. High scents of dark chocolate and caramel. Taste is supprisingly very smooth. Taste is almost like a chocolate liquor. The 11pct alcolol to it it hidden quite well behind the strong dark chocolate taste. A very smooth.. very chocolatly stout.
