Dec 21, 2008 I really wanted to try this, but when I did find it, I thought it was terrible. This is a great stout base, but it tastes like a cheap chocolate syrup was added to it, and that just makes it way too over the top sweet and fakey. I had a hard time choking down half a glass of this.

Dec 21, 2008 This was a liquid Krispy Kreme chocolate glazed donut in a bottle. Black, little brown at edges. Initial nice head fades to a ring. Aroma is chocolate glazed donut, almost shockingly so. Flavor is also glazed chocolate donut. The alcohol gives the suggestion that you might be having a shot of Godiva chocolate liquor alongside your donut. Even has that yeasty quality that KK does. Quite sweet. This is a desert beer for sure. I am not big on beer over ice cream, but this screams beer float. Very well done, but almost too much in the end.

ABV, Volume & Calories: 11% in 22 fl oz. estimated at 400 C
Purchased at: Canal’s Burlington for $8.99
Aroma: So nice, cocoa, chocolate, milk chocolate, sourness, cream, caramel, alcohol.
Visuals: beautiful packaging, as usual, utter darkness, like a night in the deep woods, black, opaque, nice tan head, strong lace.
Taste: Well balanced, syrupy chocolate, tight bitter finish, warming, strong, delicious.
Palate: High quality, smooth texture, warm, bitter finish.
Overall: dessert in a bottle. I’d have it again in a heartbeat. Likely my favorite chocolate imperial stout. It turns it to 11. Nicely done once again by Southern Tier.

Dec 20, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of milk chocolate. Tastes of milk chocolate, vanilla, lactose and ends with a nice hop bitterness. The strongest chocolate taste of any chocolate imperial stout I have had.

Dec 20, 2008 Wow, instead of smelling like bitter weet/ semi sweet chocolate many imperial stout and chocolate stouts , this brew smells like a hershey bar. The pour is black with a burnt sugar or carmel color head. The taste has hints of oat, but the flavor is primarily... you guessed it chocolat.

Dec 19, 2008 Black color with a very thin head. Aroma of bittersweet chocolate and lactose. The taste starts with a fairly bitter roasted malt taste. The chocolate arrives a bit later, but not nearly in the intensity that a beer actually named "Choklat" would suggest. Even after warming to cellar temperature, the chocolate did not stand out. ST Oat displayed more chocolate character.

Dec 18, 2008 Bottle, pours a red-hued, black body with thin tan head that disappears quickly. Aroma of lightly roasted malts, caramel, milk chocolate, and cocoa powder. The flavor features a stronger burnt malt character with cocoa and hints of tar and coffee. Medium to heavy body with a smooth, slightly oily mouthfeel. Burnt malt and cocoa finish.
