3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
0,65l bottle at home at Vienna Tasting shared by Nische, big thank. black color, small tan head. smells quite a lot of vanilla, raisins, licorice, chocolate, bit medical, light bitter herbal. good stuff. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of vanilla, medical, chocolate, bit medical, licorice, raisins. finishes bit medical with some roast and notes of vanilla and medical. decent stuff, but not a fan of vanilla at all, so not the biggest fan of this. still kind of enjoyable.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2016 Very strong brownie smell..complex and impressive! Strong strong flavor but still pretty smooth for the high alcohol...very light alcohol taste...not quite as complex as smell but more than most, Slight bitterness at the end

Thick black with no head. Aroma mostly of milk chocolate and vanilla with some dark roasty earthy notes. Bitter sweet chocolate and vanilla taste. Also very creamy and milky. Great dessert beer. So thick and heavy I can barely finish a glass.

What a great stout! The beer pours a nice dark brown with moderate translucency. The chocolate taste is great without being overwhelming. A spectacular stout!

bottle. Thick black with small head. As expected, extremely chocolate forward with quite a bit of sweetness. Really enjoyable dessert beer.

651 ml. bottle. Bottled 10/27/15. 10% ABV per the label. Pours a medium, thick, well retained beige head, with moderate lacing, over a clear black (SRM 40) body.....nose is chocolate, coffee, vanilla from the malts and additives......taste is sweet with light honey tones, chocolate, light coffee, hints of toffee/caramel, finishing with a roasted malt, hop combined bitterness.....mouth feel, medium heavy body, sticky, alcohol warmth present, slight astringency,, low carbonation. This is another of the trite style of dessert Imperial Stouts. It lacks the dried fruit characters such as plum, fig raisin, which are frequently found, and umami with beef, soy notes which are occasionally present. It is a well made, but simple beer. It might be good with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Better attenuation, less chocolate, a different yeast all might help improve. BJCP 7/3/12/4/6

Poured from a bomber. The dessert beer label doesn’t lie. It’s chocolate all the way through, bur dry enough that it’s not too sweet. It’s a bit of a one trick pony, but it’s a pretty great trick. Super drinkable and hides the booze (10%) admirably.

Draft. A rare miss for Southern Tier. Very sweet, heavy chocolate flavor, but with a distinct vegetal base. What was perfect for Pumking is completely inappropriate for Choklat. This should have used a base of caramel and malt. It tastes like they used the base for Pumking and simply added chocolate. Re-do please!
