malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Jun 4, 2008 22 ounce bottle split in pint glass. Black with lasting brown head and lotsa lace. Cark chocolate syrup aroma. Cark chocolate flavor with roasted coffee and some hoppy grassyness. Bittersweet chocolate finish. Full body, medium carb. An excellent desert, if slightly one-dimensional. No alcohol presence. BossHossBikes (147), Tennessee, USA Jun 4, 2008 Bottle. Pours black with translucent brown edges. The head is tan and creates good lacing, but is minimal and quickly diminishing. The brew seems a bit viscous as it creates a nice coating as you swirl it. Aroma... wow... that is a lot of creamy chocolate. There are some caramel notes and some subtle molasses. But the chocolate is extremely dominant. As the brew hits the tongue, bitter cocoa is the initial flavour. Not much else to say about the flavour other than cocoa. As the brew passes the tongue, bitterness becomes even more apparent. The sweeter notes of the chocolate come out as well. Some very subtle smoked qualities hide in the background creating a really nice touch to the finish. However, the bitterness becomes a little overpowering over the chocolate. While I do generally like bitter beers, I would enjoy this one more if the bitterness was a little more balanced with the rest of the flavours. A little noticeable alcohol does slip through the flavours, which doesn’t entirely mix well with the chocolate. There just seems to be a lot of inharmonic, conflicting flavours. This brew, overall, is tasty, but there are a a lot of nuances that are hindering me from saying, "this brew is great!" jmikolich (405), Athens, Ohio, USA Jun 3, 2008 22oz bottle, pour is a super dark with slight off white/brown head minimal.. nose is pure syrup and chocolate.. like hersheys in a glass... Tastes just like it smells delicious with some roasty backbone present too... this is great, but difficult to finish a 22oz by myself. Tessic (437), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Jun 3, 2008 This stout poured a velvety black colour with a nice creamy brown head. To the nose there are scents of cocoa, oatmeal, cherries and cream. First taste was very creamy with roasted flavours of chocolate with a slightly bitter finish. Palate is bitter with slight cherry flavour.
Very rich. fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA May 30, 2008 Bottle courtesy tpd975. Pours black with a large tan head that leaves good lacing. Strong aroma of chocolate brownies, not much else but who cares, it smells like brownies. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness from the chocolate and the smoothest alcohol ever. Damn Good. NJBeerman013 (761), Trenton, New Jersey, USA May 30, 2008 Bomber. Pours midnight black with a deep tan head. The aroma is sweet with a big time chocolate note. The flavor is much the same; thick and rich, malty, chocolatey. Simply awesome. Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA May 29, 2008 Bomber courtesy of NYbeer. Pours a deep, clear dark brown with a one finger tan head and delicate lacing. Nose – wow – chocolate milk and fresh brownies! Palate is cocoa, dark chocolate milk and just a touch of hops in the finish. Creamy mouth feel. A really unique stout – not something I would session, but a great night cap brew. Thanks for the great extra Steven! slimchill (771), Austin, Texas, USA May 27, 2008 Bottle. Smells entirely and exactly like chocolate milk. Pours black with ruby tints and a thin cream-colored head. Thin but smooth with loads of chocolate. It lacks in complexity, and is kind of hard to judge outside of what it is intended to be. Definitely enjoyable, but probably only in small doses.
