To the nose there are scents of cocoa, oatmeal, cherries and cream. First taste was very creamy with roasted flavours of chocolate with a slightly bitter finish. Palate is bitter with slight cherry flavour.
Very rich. fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | May 30, 2008 Bottle courtesy tpd975. Pours black with a large tan head that leaves good lacing. Strong aroma of chocolate brownies, not much else but who cares, it smells like brownies. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness from the chocolate and the smoothest alcohol ever. Damn Good. NJBeerman013 (771), Trenton, New Jersey, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 30, 2008 Bomber. Pours midnight black with a deep tan head. The aroma is sweet with a big time chocolate note. The flavor is much the same; thick and rich, malty, chocolatey. Simply awesome. Sparky27 (1583), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 29, 2008 Bomber courtesy of NYbeer. Pours a deep, clear dark brown with a one finger tan head and delicate lacing. Nose – wow – chocolate milk and fresh brownies! Palate is cocoa, dark chocolate milk and just a touch of hops in the finish. Creamy mouth feel. A really unique stout – not something I would session, but a great night cap brew. Thanks for the great extra Steven! slimchill (776), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 27, 2008 Bottle. Smells entirely and exactly like chocolate milk. Pours black with ruby tints and a thin cream-colored head. Thin but smooth with loads of chocolate. It lacks in complexity, and is kind of hard to judge outside of what it is intended to be. Definitely enjoyable, but probably only in small doses. KingpinIPA (842), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 26, 2008 Dark color. Smell of chocolate, hops, malt, caramel, minor nuts and chocolate cake. Taste of chocolate, caramel, hops, malt, cake batter, alcohol, toffee and some nuttiness at the end. Very good! ccoburn (22), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 4.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | May 25, 2008 Pours black with a tan head. Normal imperial stout appearance. The aroma is just like a cardboard can of nestle chocolate milk mix. Can’t pull anything out of it other than that. Maybe if it was the dark chocolate version which to the best of my knowledge, does not exist. By now the head died from a quarter inch to a slim film on the brew. Taste... wow. Not as much of a beer as it is a dark chocolate powder and water mix. Is this really 11 percent abv? I’m getting zero alcohol out of this beer. Brilliant. Just Brilliant. This is insane. Hence the spelling of the name. I now regret only getting one bottle of this from out of state. If i had only known, I would have bought more to show my friends that are non-believers. I can’t believe what I have here. I wouldn’t say this is the best Imperial Stout ever, but there is another category for it, and this puts a new standard for them all. Of all of the Southern Tier brews, this is their masterpiece by far. The rating needs to be one more point above 99. This is just magic. Tweety (343), Vancouver, Washington, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 22, 2008 Bomber. This one pours basically black with a dark tan head. Aroma is, well, chocolate. Very dark chocolate to be precise, with a touch of sweetness and an undertone of alcohol. It tastes a little like a mocha with the heavy chocolate and a touch of espresso on the backside. Really really tasty.
