Commercial Description:
“the ancients called it ‘food for the gods’“ The Popol Vuh, the sacred book of the Maya, unfolds a complex web of mystery around a beverage known as xocoatl (ch-co-atle). At Southern Tier, we’re not surprised that hieroglyphs of the ancient Maya depict chocolate being poured for rulers and gods. Even through the many voyages of Columbus, the mystical bean remained nothing more than a strange currency of the native peoples. Moving through centuries, the circular journey of cacao has been realized in our brewing house, encompassing the complexity of the darkest, bitter-sweet candy together with the original frothy cold beverage of the ancient Maya to bring to you our Blackwater Series Choklat Stout. We have combined the finest ingredients to tempt your senses & renew the power & interrelation of history in every bottle.

Bottle 650ml
Appearance: dark brown ale with some light passing trough. Mocha like crown.
Nose : Pleasure to smell. Heavy pound chocolate cake. Moist , rich and filling. Sweet mocha sits on top.
Flavor/Palate : Medium-full bodied . Extremely satisfying rich yet not to heavy set of flavors. Hint of smoky roast with vinous alcoholic sided dark chocolate. Gentle mocha tune join in. This ale is oriented into specific niche and it does fill it splendidly. Extremely well done job. Superb chocolate flavored brew.

Overloaded with chocolate. Like eating a bittersweet chocolate bar. Tastes like a waxy tootsie roll.

Bottled. Black with a beige head. Loads and loads of milky chocolate. Ok bitterness. Maybe a bit too much chocolate for me.

22 oz bomber. Dark brown body with a chocolaty brown head. Aroma is sweet with chocolate. Flavor has a lot of chocolate, but not too much to overwhelm the stout. Smooth mouthfeel. Very nice beer.

thick black pour with a deep tan head. aroma of sweet malt, some roastiness, milkiness and chocolate. Flavor is like chocolate milk for grown ups! Good balance of stout, lactose and chocolate. Very creamy mouthfeel. No real bitterness. I could drink one of these, but not more - just too much "non-beer" flavor for me, but it’s still very good for a chocolate stout. Wife loved it.

22 oz. bottle - thanks hank!!pours thick and pitch black; chocolate head and very oily appearance; strong and sweet milk chocolate aromas leave room for nothing else; no bitterness and creamy texture; drinks silky smooth and flavors are almost all chocolate as well with minor maltiness; at times it tastes perfect, but other times the chocolate is almost too much; an impressive ans tasty brew though
