Commercial Description:
“the ancients called it ‘food for the gods’“ The Popol Vuh, the sacred book of the Maya, unfolds a complex web of mystery around a beverage known as xocoatl (ch-co-atle). At Southern Tier, we’re not surprised that hieroglyphs of the ancient Maya depict chocolate being poured for rulers and gods. Even through the many voyages of Columbus, the mystical bean remained nothing more than a strange currency of the native peoples. Moving through centuries, the circular journey of cacao has been realized in our brewing house, encompassing the complexity of the darkest, bitter-sweet candy together with the original frothy cold beverage of the ancient Maya to bring to you our Blackwater Series Choklat Stout. We have combined the finest ingredients to tempt your senses & renew the power & interrelation of history in every bottle.

At a Göteborg gathering: Black colour, with a nice brown creamy head.. Aroma of dark choclate, malts, citric, and a nice balanced hopy nose. Flavor is almost the smae, nice balnced Imperial stout. Chocolate and hopynes in a nice mix here. Medium body, and a medium sweet chocolate finish. Nice

Bottle, and OMG this beer poured a dark black oil like color with only a slight head. Goes down silky smooth, just like melted chocolate. What flavor, it’s truly like a melted Hershey’s bar. This beer is awesome.

Bottle from STFUN! Color is jet black with a small coffee colored head. The chocolate can be smelled 3 feet away. It really does smell like a milkshake. What is even better is the taste, just like chocolate milk . There is a nice bit of hops in there to balance it, but the after taste is sweet chocolate. Good thickness to it, but still is smooth. Great beer! Thanks again josh!

Bottle. Pours dark black/brown, medium head. Huge chocolate aroma, can smell from several feet when poured. HUGE chocolate taste. Like drinking a dark chocolate bar. Some hops in finish to balance beer out. Medium body, smooth.

22 oz. bottle via trade with jasonmech77 - Pours a dark brown color with a 3/4 finger thick tan head. Very light lacing and carbonation. Aroma is fantastic. It’s big time chocolate and grain (cereal). Flavor is mainly chocolate with a touch of mint. There is just enough hop bitterness to help balance the beer. A very smooth, medium body beer. Alcohol is fairly well hidden. An excellent beer. May have to put this beer back on my Want List. Thanks Jason for hooking me up after the other guy screwed me.

Pours a deep dark brown with a 1/2" mocha head, that disapates quickly. Spotty lacing. Aroma of chocolate and then some more chocolate. Flavor of chocolate. Smooth beer, alcohol is not apparent in the flavor, but it is felt going down. Very good dessert beer.

Bottle thanks to markgugs. Dark black with a small brown head. Wow, this thing smells just like a tootsie roll. Big chocolate on the nose with some sweetness and roast. Flavor is all chocolate at first. Then it settles down on the palate and caramel begins to come out. Very nice texture with a creamy mouthfeel. Just a touch of bittersweet chocolate on the finish.
