Southern Tier Choklat

On tap at the Bocktown, thanks Chris! Red tinge on an otherwise coal black beer. Big creamy choco mousse head that fades. What a real chocolate aroma, more so than any other so called chocolate beer I’ve ever smelled. Reminds me of chocolate milk or chocolate salt water taffy. Taste is certainly imp stout with it’s high alky rating but it comes off chocolate and pleasant before the bitter impy character can stand up and shout. A truly creamy chocolate experience. I despise imp stout but this is certainly one of the best I’ve ever had.

Bottle. Pours jet black with a small tan head and has nice lacing. Heavenly aroma of sweet dark chocolate, light roasted malts, caramel and a hint of coffee. Rich and velvety smooth flavor of many different and complex chocolates with light notes of roast, vanilla, molasses and a hint of smokiness. Full bodied with a dry finish. A very well balanced complex stout. AWESOME

Pours a nearly opaque black. The aroma is as clear and focused as the name implies. Full on chocolate, coffee, milk chocolate, chocolate milk, Hershey’s syrup. Wow. The flavor is a continuation, I have never had this much chocolate flavor in a beer, this is an amazing creation.

Aroma – Huge Chocolate aroma, the beer had dark aromas spewing from it.
Appearance – Dark black color, thin head, clear as mud can get.
Flavor – Huge flavor. This was the beer for the week for me. It was super huge with Chocolate and coffee flavors. This beer gave off so much flavor it was rich beyond its life. HUGE Flavor.
Palate – AWSOME Mouthfeel, good texture with a dry finish.
Overall – This was a beer of beers for most. This was so rich with flavor it was almost too much. The deep chocolate flavor was great I loved the beer it will and can be my Valentines every year. If you like Chocolate this is your beer.

22 oz. bottle, no head to speak of, dark as night color, big roasted chocolate flavor, some leather in there, this reminds me of a big chocolate cake

Bomber. Poured translucent, deep coppery-brown with a short cap of tan head. The aroma was like dessert in a glass.. rich, fluffy chocolate cake, cocoa, and a Hershey’s bar all blended together.. light tannin undertones.. decadent! The flavor was good, but didn’t hold up to the nose.. rich chocolate at the base, with light almost lactic sourness and heavier alcohol presence around.. a touch too sharp at the back.. vanilla creeps in toward the back, giving an enjoyable complement to the chocolate. Heavier-bodied with low-to-moderate carbonation.. great chocolate syrupy foray, but a tad rough on the back-end. All in all a very good brew!

Bottle@Dr.Bills. Dark redish pour with minimal head. Chocolate, sweet..creamy....like chocolate milk....only it’s better cause it’s beer. By far the best chocolate beer I’ve ever had....cheers goldtwins.

bottle. pours an opaque black with a moderate light brown head that isn’t going anywhere. initial smell is--you guessed it--chocolate. deep rich cocoa with little black cherry notes dancing on the perimeter, a bit of oak, all with a slightly burnt brownie crust. more deep cocoa flavor, but this time with a lot more roasted malt notes, reminding you that this is indeed an imperial stout, and not some strange chocolate milk concoction. notes of coffee, dark fruit (cherries, grapes), a bit more oak, and even some hoppy notes taking a floral and earthy turn. big bitter kick on the palate, which i regard as absolutely essential, this beer being so rich and chocolaty. light sweetness here and there, but it’s a lingering pleasant bitter tingle that stands out. very slight warming; the alcohol is extremely well-hidden. thick silky feel, not a ton of carbonation, but enough to let you know it’s there. i know this is a gimmick beer, but it’s damned near perfect for what it is. it’s also a very solid imperial stout. it’s so rich that you think a sip will be enough, but the finish prevents it from ever being cloying. i am very much impressed.
