Creamy chocloate candy bar taste. This might be the best smelling beer I’ve ever had. The taste is ALL chocolate, which got on my nerves as I finished the 22oz bottle. Sweet and chocolatey finish. No otyher beer I’ve had comes close to the chocolate taste. jefcon (1009), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 13, 2009 This beer is deceptive in many ways. First, it is nearly black in the glass but doesn’t look particularly great, leaving just a little tan lacing above the oil slick cap. Aromas are intense chocolate. Cocoa, chocolate chips. Then another deception on the palate, where the hops grab your attention right away while the tongue anticipates chocolate milk or cold cocoa. Some nice spicing, too, of cinnamon and nutmeg to round out the flavors. Finally, you would never guess at the 11 percent alcohol. Wow. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA

Chocolate, precisely. No real hop aromas or any off flavors. Just creamy, creamy, simple. Fully rich creamy mouth. Textbook! Really sweet! alcohol pops out a bit more, but not much. Big tootsie roll again. Really round. Really simple and clean. A bit of an alcoholic Tootsie roll finish. malrubius (1005), Valley Stream, New York, USA

Cark chocolate syrup aroma. Cark chocolate flavor with roasted coffee and some hoppy grassyness. Bittersweet chocolate finish. Full body, medium carb. An excellent desert, if slightly one-dimensional. No alcohol presence. matt7215 (1002), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada

Aroma is very undeniably chocolate, and quite unlike typical chocolate malt. Taste is same and richly so. Taste is smooth, and alcohol is barely apparent. Pleasant and subtle carbonation. $9/22oz sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA
