Appearance: dark brown ale with some light passing trough. Mocha like crown. Nose : Pleasure to smell. Heavy pound chocolate cake. Moist , rich and filling. Sweet mocha sits on top. Flavor/Palate : Medium-full bodied . Extremely satisfying rich yet not to heavy set of flavors. Hint of smoky roast with vinous alcoholic sided dark chocolate. Gentle mocha tune join in. This ale is oriented into specific niche and it does fill it splendidly. Extremely well done job. Superb chocolate flavored brew.

The aroma is sweet with a big time chocolate note. The flavor is much the same; thick and rich, malty, chocolatey. Simply awesome. Dogbrick (2925), Columbus, Ohio, USA

This brew is a glossy black color with a thick and foamy tan head that dissipates slowly. Rings of lacing. The aroma is chocolatey with light roasted malt and vanilla in the background. Rich body with a nice dark choclate character, as well as some cocoa, malt and hops. Alcohol is well-masked throughout. The finish is chocolate and roasted nuts. Chocolate beers, like Fruit and Smoked beers, walk a fine line with me as far as going overboard. This beer is wonderfully balanced and enjoyable throughout. argo0 (7047), Washington DC, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 5, 2008 (growler) Black body topped by a small tan head. Aroma is moderately sweet, chocolate -- both milk and bittersweet, some Tootsie Roll. Taste is moderately sweet, dark and milk chocolate, light lactic sourness, alcohol. Medium-full body, alcohol VERY well hidden. Not a chocolate stout as much as it is a chocolate beer. Comparable to Svaneke Choko Stout in its chocolateyness, though of course it has almost twice the alcohol. Same caveat applies -- if this type of beer appeals to you, you’ll love it, but if not.... ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 19, 2009 Bottle from Sean. I had been wanting to try this beer for over a year and Sean found one somewhere months ago. Very black color with a tan head, with the smell being 100% chocolate. There isnt much else to pick up; just the usual stuff from stouts. The chocolate aroma drowns out the alcohol smell, which is a good thing. Taste is very good, thick and rich, perhaps almost too much for one person to take on. This one really surprised me because it was really good. I knew I would like it, but not as much as I did. Something I could drink every day and in turn weigh so much that I would need to be weighed at a weigh station. Syd (911), Waconia, Minnesota, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 23, 2008 Bottle pours rather thick and black with a milk chocolate head and some spotty lace. The aroma is amazing. Yes, I dont normally get so floored by aroma, but here it is, Im floored. The aroma is of chocolate, but the really classy dark chocolate you pay big bucks for and is labeled as 70 pct. Add in some cinnamon for aroma. The flavor, serious chocolate, lots of milk, some Olvateen, and just overall chocolaty. The palate is rich, but not obnoxious. The alcohol pct is not anywhere to be tasted, aside from a heady experience much enjoyed by the rater. Overall, Im enjoying this to the fullest. ukoolaid (572), Amherst, Massachusetts, USA

Chocolate aroma hits you right in the face as soon as you start to pour. Taste is chocolate, obviously. Milky dark and light chocolate. Milk duds. Tootsie rolls. Not very beerish...rather one dimensional, but who cares? This is one tasty drink. kkearn (1016), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 21, 2008 22oz bottle from Capone’s (Norristown, PA). Pours incredibly deep brown, capped with a moderate sized, creamy tan head. Impressive milk chocolate aroma; perhaps some tootsie roll in the there as well. Flavor is all chocolate; sweet milk chocolate and cocoa at first, giving way to bittersweet chocolate and some roasty notes towards the finish. Silky smooth and almost too easy to drink for its 11%. Really nice stuff.
