COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“a stout of great contention” We are not the harbingers of truth as some may suggest but it may indeed be argued that our brewing philosophy is tantamount to a dessert with a bellicose past. How, you may ask, would a brewery determine a likeness to hard-coated custard? Our response is simple; it’s all in the power of history, and of course, the extra finesse needed to top off a contentious treat with definition.

By comprehending the labyrinthine movement of time, one would not think it strange to trace the errant path of an ordinary object such as a cream dessert only to discover that it has been the cause of cultural disputes since the middle ages. The British founders of burnt cream and from Spain, crema catalana, both stand by their creative originality and we respect that, but it was the French Crème Brûlée, amid the strife of contention, that survived to represent our deliciously creamy brew. 9.6% abv • 25º plato • 195º L • 22 oz / 1/6 keg 2-row pale malt / dark caramel malt / vanilla bean / lactose sugar / kettle hops: columbus / aroma hops: horizon

Bottle. Clear deep brown liquid with small to medium tan head. Aroma of vanilla, sugar, fudge, licorice, caramel, toffee and milk chocolate. Massive amount of vanilla. Taste is medium to high sweet and light bitter with notes of vanilla, caramel and fudge. Medium to full bodied with low carbonation. Waay too sweet and lots of vanilla. Just too much.

Trade from bigda83. well first i have to say the aroma was absolutely awesome. smelled like a good cheesecake my friend even suggested it would be a serviceable air freshener. on to the taste a little disappointing compared to the aroma but still is a full creamy caramel taste with a slight bitter finish. overall damn good for the style

Bue à la pression. Noir profond, arômes de crème brûlée (surprenant !). Au palais, peu de sucre, café, vanille, crème. Superbement équilibrée et complexe. Top !

Aroma of caramel, custard, and burnt sugar. Dark colour, no head. An amazing taste of crime brûlée, slightly sweet. A sugary palate with a rich creamy feel.

Wow the first thing I noticed about this brew is the aroma. Very sugary and delicious smell! Pour is pitch black and flavor is spot on. Smooth and doesn’t taste like alcohol at all.

Thin black pour with a quickly fading brown head. Burnt sugar and Carmel aroma. Sweet flavor that mirrors the smell, with a bitter coffee finish. Not a bad beer, a bit thin for a stout.

Sampled from a bomber at the Bluebonnet Brew-off. Poured a dark brown with a foamy tan head. Tasted like a vanilla bomb, marshmallows, and mounds of sugar. Medium carbonation, thick body. Very well crafted beer, it’s just way too overpowering for me.

No retention and light lacing. Smells of vanilla, burnt sugar and marshmallows. Tastes of burnt vanilla, sugar cane. Boozy finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at The Cove. Pours a very dark brown with beige head that leaves sticky lacing. The aroma is a strong burnt caramel, vanilla, and roast. Medium mouthfeel with burnt sugar, sweet vanilla, and lingering roast finish. Good.

Black. No head. I just poured and from three feet away all i smell is vanilla. Maybe somesweet toffee or caramel too. Same in flavor. Great notes of sweet vanilla caramel before a mouthful of espresso. Really nice stout. Good balance between sweet and bitter

If you are a fan of phony tasting flavored coffee you would probably love this. Personally I found it gross. Can I give this zero stars? I’m at The Great Lost Bear in Portland, ME with a great selection of beer. I thank God that I only purchased a 5oz sample of this vile concoction. Do yourself a favor and skip this one!
