3.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: APR 29, 2014 22 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a very dark brown color with a one-finger khaki shaded head. It certainly looks like a stout, that’s for sure.
S: HOLY SHIZNIT. The level of vanilla, caramel, and cream I pick up on the nose is absolutely ridiculous. Of course, the sugar level is probably ridiculous, but I don’t care. The aroma is amazing.
T: The flavors, however, aren’t quite amazing. Having said that, this is probably the most caramel-forward brew I’ve ever had. Seriously, there’s so much caramel and vanilla, it’s fuckin’ ridiculous. No balance between the sweet and bitter qualities at all. But honestly? I kind of like it, even if the sweetness burns the palate.
M: I’d really like the feel to be fuller/creamier to properly support all of the over-the-top sweetness. Because of that, this is *VERY* hard to drink. The low carbonation doesn’t help it feel less cloying, either.
O: SAH-FUCKING-WEET. Sure, its actual flavor is nice, but this is so hard to imbibe it’s not even funny. Share this with about 4-6 people and you’ll thank me later.

(trade w/Olking) what an aroma! Smelled the wonderful sugary sweetness of Creme Brule as soon as I opened the bottle. Small tan head which is pretty much gone now. Somewhat thick body. Flavors of brown sugar, vanilla, and caramel with a boozy backend that lingers on the palate. Perhaps a little too boozy than I?d like. I’ve been wanting to try this for a few years. Now wish I had traded for several bottles!

2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
From tap. Dark brown with small beige head. Hot damn, does this beer nail its title. Blindfolded, you’d swear you were smelling eponymous dessert. Strong smells of french vanilla flavoring, icing, brown sugar, etcetera. Taste follows, though at a slightly reduced intensity. If you plug your nose, all you get is sweet. Thick and heavy. Cloying. Well executed (I think this is exactly what ST wanted to brew), but unfinishable. More marvel than beer.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer & Beyond, Tel Aviv. Dark brown with quickly diminishing low beige head. Heavy mocha aroma, milk chocolate, toffee, vanilla, sweet. Heavy vanilla flavor, medium sweet, mocha, notes of coffee, low bitterness. spicy, complex. The alcohol is well hidden. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Full body. Very nice.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice
Appearance – Served a black colored beer with a one finger tan head that fades over a moderate amount of time. Upon fading a nice level of lacing is left on the glass.
Smell – The smell is sweet and delicious, like crème brule in a cup. Big aromas a sweet milk, caramel and a lighter vanilla are complemented well by some dark chocolate and roasted coffee smells.
Taste – The taste begins with sweet vanilla and caramel mixed with a roasted malt flavor. Soon flavors of chocolate come to the tongue and bitter the very sweet start. The flavors meld very well at this point and are only complemented and accentuated by a roasted coffee flavor the enters the taste profile more toward the end. Along with the coffee is some alcohol booziness, which when mixed with the other tastes leaves a warming and satisfying taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is rather thick with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. The thickness and creaminess of the body coats the mouth, bathing the taste buds in the sweet and roasted flavors, really allowing then to be individually distinguished and makes for a nice drinking brew.
Overall – A nice sipper after dinner for dessert. The flavors transition well and complement each other nicely. A good sweet stout if I must say.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tap. Pours a deep black with a creamy light mocha head. The flavor is incredibly strong and sweet creme brulee. There may have been a stout under those flavors somewhere, but I couldn’t find it. This was a bit too over the top and gimmicky for me. I would prefer the creme brulee flavor dialed down the sweetness cut way, way back.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Tap: Deep brown edges, nearly black center with a mocha-tan head that quickly dissipates into nothing. Very nice aroma; vanilla, sweet cream, caramel, & brown sugar give off that heavy sweetness vibe & have a very dessert-like appeal. Taste is no different... It’s sweet. VERY sweet. Milky vanilla, sweet caramelized brown sugar, burnt toffee, just a slight astringency from the roasted malt. Sweet up front, sweet on the back-end.... Sweet everywhere. The taste, the aroma, all good, but the high sweetness makes this hard to drink more than a few ounces. I understand it’s SUPPOSED to be a "sweet dessert" beer, but this is overboard. Attenuate a little more & this beer might actually be really good.

Deliciously inventive. Perhaps overly sweet for more than a single serving but perfect for post dinner/holiday evening. High vanilla and caramel as the name would suggest.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 22, 2014 Poured from bomber into snifter. Dark, dark brown color, with thin white low retention head. Smells straight up like butterscotch. Taste is interesting: more butterscotch/ vanilla, but a little more bitter than I expected. Feel is like fizzy ice cream (I know thats weird, but thats the best way to describe it); the fizziness is a bit odd as well (maybe its not supposed to be that way?). Overall, a pretty interesting, pretty tasty beer, for all its oddities.
