Commercial Description:
“a stout of great contention” We are not the harbingers of truth as some may suggest but it may indeed be argued that our brewing philosophy is tantamount to a dessert with a bellicose past. How, you may ask, would a brewery determine a likeness to hard-coated custard? Our response is simple; it’s all in the power of history, and of course, the extra finesse needed to top off a contentious treat with definition.

By comprehending the labyrinthine movement of time, one would not think it strange to trace the errant path of an ordinary object such as a cream dessert only to discover that it has been the cause of cultural disputes since the middle ages. The British founders of burnt cream and from Spain, crema catalana, both stand by their creative originality and we respect that, but it was the French Crème Brûlée, amid the strife of contention, that survived to represent our deliciously creamy brew. 10.0% abv • 25º plato • 195º L • 22 oz / 1/6 keg 2-row pale malt / dark caramel malt / vanilla bean / lactose sugar / kettle hops: columbus / aroma hops: horizon

22oz bottle. Pours black with thick creamy head that leaves some beautiful lacing. Huge aroma of butterscotch and burnt toffee. The flavor is as advertised. All the qualities of crème brûlée are here: creamy butterscotch, toffee, caramelized sugar, vanilla, lactose. Insane. There’s also coffee, bitter hops, chocolate, and roasted malts. Medium bodied, slightly fizzy, and a subtle bitter finish. Not my cup of tea, and certainly my least favorite of the series. But if you love the real thing, then you might like this brew.

650ml bomber: Pours a clear ebony brown some ruby highlights. Smallish tan cap. Soft carbonation. Aroma is dominated by a vanilla-cream-cocoa tones, light caramel sweetness. Medium body, rich oily mouth feel. Big chew of toffee-roasty malts spiked with vanilla in the front, mid palate the cocoa and lactose(cream) tastes join the vanilla in creating a chocolate-custard character, then this dissolves away in the long finish which turns bitter and roasty with slight drying. Great blend of flavors in a strong stout without cloying....intensely flavourful, satisfying and warming....a definite must try Après à manger beer.

This beer pours dark brown with an opaque body and average sized, creamy, light brown head which quickly dissipated. It has a powerful sweet caramel aroma with hints of coffee and vanilla. A livelier, carbonation than expected on first taste that thickens at the finish. A heavy sweetness up front with strong caramel and alcohol flavors; a slight burnt and bitter finish. I think this beer hits the flavors it attempts to, but I would prefer a smoother, less sweet version.

Unique is an undertstatement. Sweet aroma - heavily loaded with caramel, and a wild sweet, custard flavour that stops just short of becoming cloying. Keeping all of this sweetness in line is a subtly alcohol presence that reveals itself after drinking. Impossible to drink quickly, it could be the best after dinner beer ever brewed.

Bomber. Horrible... Taste and smells just like Creme Brulee but thats not what i want in a beer.... Smells nutty and fake, not like a brew. Flavor is also artificial, syrupy, and sugary. They got just what i think they were going for but what they were going for was stupid. BAd beer; way too sweet.

Draft at Dilly Deli. Pours an opaque dark brown color with a small tan head. Strong aroma of vanilla, caramel, chocolate, alcohol, cream, roast- definitely can picture the burnt cream and custard when smelling this. The flavor is strong vanilla and caramel-chocolate liqueur, without much else. Medium bodied, with a syrupy texture and mouthfeel. Cloying- would be nicer if it were more subtle, but this one pounds you with an alcoholic creme brulee flavor. Lingering aftertaste.

Nearly black with no head. Aroma is very powerful, with lots of sweetness, specifically caramel and vanilla. Taste is similar with some coffee as well as alcohol. Some carbonation, overall a nice mouthfeel. A great imperial stout for those who enjoy sweet brews.

650ml bottle. Pours dark amber, little head. Beautiful aroma. Lots of butterscotch, caramel, with some vanilla. Honestly, beautiful. As for taste, the alcohol is very apparent. More of the butterscotch, and caramel. Really a decent beer, but FAR too sweet for my tastes. So, so sweet. Would love to try a drier version.

Several bottle samples. The latest from Christian. Thanks man! Deeper than used motor oil, with a frothy mocha cap that lasts and laces well. Nice nose of burnt sugar (creme brulee), milk chocolate, vanilla extract, roasty caramel malts. Tastes very. very sweet. Of roasty chocolate covered coffee beans, creme brulee, with the sugary vanilla, butterscotch, and burnt sugar all being the main contenders. Thick, oily, decadent and sweet finish. Certainly a sipper but very enjoyable. All of ya’ll complaining about the sweetness need to understand what is being accomplishes here. If I can drink two bombers in a night, there is no reason you can’t drink a 1/4 of a bottle.
