2009-03-20. Dark amber brown body with a modest beige head. (3+) Aroma is mildly alcoholic sweet malt, light woody oak. Flavour is similar, moderate alcoholic, sweet woody malt, dry bitterness in the finish shows the alcohol. (7+) Average palate. Okay. Bottle shared by HogTownHarry

Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry, Blankboy, GregClow, Jerc, and Garthicus, at Blankboy’s, courtesy of either Harry or Paul (I forgot to write down who brought what - thanks for sharing guys!). Dark brown, small white head. Sweet boozy aroma. Sweet taste, straightforward strong Belgian territory here. Didn’t get the oak. Good, but I expect a little more from Southern Tier.

Sampled at the ST tasting at Blacklick Wine and Spirits on 3.19.09. Clear light brown pour with a medium beige head. Malty and creamy aroma with vanilla and a slight hint of chocolate. Malty caramel aroma with vanilla and a bit of alcohol. Not fantastic, but decent overall and better than series 1.

goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - MAR 21, 2009
Poured a clear deep red copper color with creamy medium sized beige head. Poured thick. Sweet and fruity with a fair amount of coconut. Tons of coconut in the flavor. Some vanilla and dark fruit. Light hop finish with a mild taste of alcohol pepper bitterness. Touch of cocoa. Medium to full bodied. Warming in the chest.

AGAquino (662) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 21, 2009
On tap at Cole’s in Buffalo. Dark mahogany colour, very slight head, but nice lacing. Seet malty aroma, and flavour. Very nice strong beer, similar to a bock.

On tap at the Vintage Estates, really nice place. Looks like rootbeer with a really nice creamy head. Smells fairly good. Initial taste is rather rude for a lager lover. Then, it smooths out a bit thru the session. Must be havving an anestetic effect on the buds. Barely any detectable creamy carbonation, palate is overwhelmed by flavors. Medicinal linger, would not buy again.

On tap @ Coles Buffalo NY. Pours a darkruby maroon with little head. Nose is grape juice almost like a shot of 3 Olives grape vodka is in it, booziness, some oak & vanilla. Taste is no grape, caramel, vanilla, light oak. Didnt finish the glass. not for me & especially for what i paid for it. Who gives a F%$# if its individually boxed make it affordable

Nephilium (1406) - Ohio, USA - MAR 20, 2009
This starts with a slightly sweet smell, underlying hints of dark fruit and vanilla. Pours a clear red, with a thin light tan head. A very creamy mouthfeel. This comes across sweet, with a bit of vanilla and oak. Not bad, but not something I’m going to go after again.

Dark brown sort of color with a dense but small head. Loads of vanilla, loads of sweet toffee. Dark fruit in the background and a woody finish. Extremely sweet but not in a bad way.

Bottle shared by ucusty - thanks, David! Dark pour, well carbonated, almost menacing looking. Nose was fairly complex, fragrant with sweet candy and oak. Not as harsh and one-dimensional as the initial entry in this series. Strong hop aggression balanced out by sweet malts and some seriously grapey flavors. Weak tea in the finish, alas. But this was an improvement.
