Ale aged in American Oak ALE IMPRESSIONS: Dark ruby red color, roasted malt flavor with apparent bitterness. Finishes with a rich caramel and espresso aroma. AMERICAN OAK IMPRESSIONS: Impressions of vanilla crème, classic crème brûlée and nougat. A little more oak flavor than series one, but with creamy intensity. 11.0% abv. • individually boxed, foil labeled 22 oz bottle

Served from a 22 oz bottle from back in The Wine & Cheese Place years ago. The appearance is a ruby brown hue with a small off white to light brown head. The nose is full of grape juice, oak, vanilla wafers, and a sprinkle of nutmeg. The flavors are malty with sweet caramelized brown sugar, creme brulee for sure. Oak spice and snikerdoodles. Luscious creamy body with a mild intensity oak spice. After have forgetting about this for some time the Series 1 being a mediocre brew I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by this beer.

650ml bottle. Maybe the least oxidized of the trio I tasted, similiar flavor to the other, a bit mroe vanilla and oak notes have survived the extended aging.

65cl, as Southern Tier Cuvée 2, retired exclusive American brew, thx alot to Tim for sharing!, complex brew, woody/malty/sweet and slightly spicy/bitter, not too heavy, yet not balanced, cloudy, nearly no head, nice brew, ’Sadly more oxidated than Cuvée 1; not pleasant aromas of amoniac...’

   AROMA 9/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 8/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 18/20

Thank you tderoeck! Tasting glass from 650 ml. bottle consumed @ “The Tasting formerly known as Mons RBBAG I (2014)”. Super dark pomegranate red basically no head. Super thick sugar, caramel, caramelized apple & lots of oak nose. Taste is thick sugar, lots of caramel peel (main difference with nr. 1), extreme sugar, biscuit, good oxidation, sugar vanilla, tad more oak than nr. 1. Thick sugar body; Good but not top but definitely enjoyable.

"had a bottle with some age on it. dark red. smells pretty boozy. fruity, with a little chocolate and a touch of hops. mostly sweet with a little oak. a little more oak in the flavor, then more of the same. nice toasted oak flavor as it warms. it’s pretty nice but a little too cloying to be worth the $. ST makes better for less."

Thanks Chris / Adrien for this bottle. Ya’ll are drinking right now so enjoy the beers! Miss you dudes. appearance is a clear blood red, oak red. Slight cardboard, oxidation and intense oaky maltiness. Lots of oak, astringent oak, slightly sweet. Lots of wood and sweet creamy vanilla. Interesting beer.

bomber shared again a very old bottle no date on it..poured a murky amber color. same abv as the cuvee one just taste a little different. aroma is sweet malts and sugars and vanilla. the flavor was more of the same plus he booziness on the end. not bad but I like the one better. this is more of dessert sipper. overall still pretty good.

Pours ruby amber with a beige head. The aroma brings sweet wood oak and malts. The flavor is similar bringing sweet malty notes dominating and then some of the oak as well, not complex and doesn’t bring a variety of flavors, right on for a style that I don’t love though.

Rated on 01-15-2012 (Bottle) This beer pours a small semi-fizzy tan head that mostly diminishes, hazy ruby body, fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, oak and woody. The flavor is sweet, moderately bitter, caramel malt, oak, vanilla, and alcohol. The mouthfeel is lively and this beer is light-medium bodied. Overall, this is a sipping beer at 11%ABV. The flavor is very flavorable and this beer is worth trying and a beer I would drink again.
