Courtesy of roommate Ryan. Pours an attractive reddish amber color. Smells like sugar; it is going to be overly sweet. Uh oh. whoa. Waaay to sweet for my taste, incredibly sugary and malty. Finishes with some nice oak and pleasant malt, but this beer strikes me as totally unbalanced. Even if this beer was classified as a barleywine, it would still be too overbearingly cloying. Better luck next time ST.

22 oz. bottle from Randall’s. It’s still on shelves there- not good. Pours a semi-hazed copper color with a small eggshell white head. Aroma of caramel, brown sugar, toast, dried berries, and resin. Some heat, too. Flavor of apples, dried berries, caramel, sugar, toast, butterscotch, and booze. Medium-full bodied, with a sweet, sticky mouthfeel and modest carbonation. A little too sweet and butterscotchy but not bad.

Bottle pours reddish brown nice head. Smells little oak booze caramel. Not a whole lot I liked taste wise with this too sweet. Forgettable

Decent sized off-white head of fine and dense bubbles. BIG caramel and butterscotch aroma with lots of sweet malts, fresh bread, some alcoholic notes and just a hint of the oaky tartness. Color is a dark mahagony. Very sweet and silky smooth on the tongue. More caramel and butter and a decent bitterness late swallow that dries out the sweetness a bit. Noticable alcohol presence and warming. Way too much sweetness to really get anything from the oak aging. Reminds me of a butter rum life saver. Finishes sweet and oily. A pretty good brew in the series but not my favorite.

Ontbeertaster (2339) - Ontario, CANADA - MAR 1, 2012
The aroma was less oaky then the first 2 but the flavour was very sweet and it was really quite nice, I dont see this being the first 2, maybe it was a fresher batch and the sweetness was there in the early goings for the first 2. But I liked the sweetness. Overall this one was quite drinkable. I would not recommend drinking any of these cuvees by ones self. Very strong stuff. Good offering

Pours medium amber with dark red hues with a light carbed head. Aromas of oak, candied cherry, toffee, molasses. Flavors of candied cherry, oak, alcohol, light bread, caramel, light coconut, and slight vanilla. Very sweet, alcohol highly noticeable, almost syrupy on palate. Tasty.

Pours amber in color with off white head. Aroma of sugar, carmel and aerosol. Taste of brown sugar, prune, carmel, and alcohol. Very complex. Alittle sticky. Great for sharing. Hard to drink more than one glass.

Aroma is malty and nutty, with slight mustiness. The flavor is malty and nutty like the aroma, along with caramel, sweetness and a hoppy/mildly alcoholic finish. Normally don’t care for ales that are more than slightly nutty but this one was pretty good.

Bomber. Poured a lovely shade of translucent garnety-amber with a short-lived, fairly dense beige head. The aroma picked up syrupy-sweet vanilla and molasses, with peppery oak and Amaretto boozage around.. this didn’t strike me as particularly enticing. The flavor found the expected sweet, syrupy malts the whole way through (caramel, molasses, vanilla, and a kiss of honey).. grainy oak bitterness and coconut around.. finished with grainy residual sugars and the same almond liqueur on the tacky finish. Heavier-bodied, syrupy, and oily on the palate.. oak was quite present, but it didn’t really help or hurt the brew.. just OK overall.

The bomber pours clear amber with copper hues and tiny off white head. The aroma is maple syrup, pine hops, sweet vanilla and oddly mixing with spicy oak. It also has sweet prunes and microwaved fig meat. Whoa! The taste is thick, sweet, gluggy and tumbles across the palate with an oak sweet molasses syrupiness. Behind those notes are maple syrup, oak, some pine hops, spicy oak and vanilla. This is bold and big and nearly brash. I like it.
