Pour is a deep mahogany color with a very thing light tan head. Nose is of oak, vanilla and many different caramel like malts. Taste is very mild, yet somewhat sweet.

22 oz. bottle shared by. Pours deep amber in color with a thin off white film. The aroma is sweet malty, caramel, oak, vanilla with a hint of herbal hops. The flavor has sweet caramel, vanilla, oak, herbal, with a touch of fruit. This one is a bit syrupy and has me wondering if more time would help. I think this is the best of the three versions.

22 oz bottle. Poured a ruby color with /orange color with virtually no head. Aroma is really sweet, teeming with alcohol. Flavor is oak barrel vanilla, sugary dried fruits, alcohol. Eh, was not exactly impressed with this one, it didn’t seem as complex as it should have been and was too hot (boozy) to really enjoy properly. Maybe with some more age.

Bottle shared with Andrew, Streets and Grandpa. This was surprisingly underwhelming. Pours a deep dark amber red body with barely any lacing. Aroma is light oaky notes, dark fruit, and sweet caramel. Mouthfeel is medium somewhat syrupy with notes of dark fruit, sweet caramel, oak, light vanilla, bread. Ehhhh.

Probably second favorite of the three... Plum and dark fruits. Sugar and spice... Overall the series was pretty tame.

650ml bottle from trade. Pours a clear amber with decent tan head. Aroma is very barley-wine in it’s sweet caramel malt, toffee and treacle assertiveness. Flavour is much the same with the sweetness a little over powering. There’s some aged fruit in there but not much oak barrel to speak of. Some vanilla there but hard to focus on with the cloying sweetness. Viscous mouthfeel but alcohol is very well hidden. Very good but would have liked it better if the sweetness was reigned in.

Bottle. Pours a dark reddish amber color with a small off-white head. Has a sweetish malty molasses and caramel aroma. Sweetish heavy malty molasses flavor with hoppy bitter hints. Has a sweetish malty molasses finish with a long bitter aftertaste.

On tap at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Deep red body, thin tight cream head. Nose of oak and peach, sweet. Sweet body with tannic, buttery oak and fermented light fruits. Somewhat harsh with borderline cloying sweetness.

Bomber from Charleston Beer Exchange. Pours dark ruddy copper with a creamy off-white head. Aroma of sweet fruits. Med + body. It’s very fruity. Makes me think of grape. Then it goes on to ripe light stone fruit. There’s some slightly roasted caramel. There’s some woodiness. Heat is not an issue. Just slightly sweet; there’s an impression of bitter. It seems like amazingly fresh fruit. A few other things I can’t find words for are in the mix. Excellent.

22 oz bottle purchased at Bark’s Beer Cave in Plattsburgh, NY. Weird, swampy, rubbery aroma with some vanilla oaky woody hints. Light ethanol retronasally. Not so aromatic. Virtually transparent amber body with a medium-small off-yellowish head present. Very very sweet, sugary flavor to start. Some pitted fruits and a little diacetyl butteriness present. Finishes with more sweetness and more vanilla oakiness. Booze is well-hidden under the overly sweet, sugary, cloying body. Not so good.
