(And I might add that it is an absolute bastard to get into these plastic coated gems.) Hazy apricot colored body with little head... just a few lonely bubbles floating around the surface. Crisp aromas are of soap, lemon and grapefruit with a little bit of a floral edge. Flavor is very sweet and alcoholic, which really isn’t for me. Theis (3803), Denmark

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 10, 2009 I am not sure what ST is hoping to accomplish by blending an Imperial Pale Ale (almsot an IPA) and an IIPA. But to be fair, I really like this. The nose is pitch pine hops, with a real earthiness to it. The appearance is a nice orange/red, minimal white head, more or less typical of an IIPA. The flavor is upfront a mix of the pitch pine, caramel, brown sugar, and a dusty quality, like a freshly harvested grain. The finish is more piney than citrus, but is very pleasant, and lingering. Very good beer overall, but not an improvement over Unearthly. IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 9, 2009 Poured an orangeish amber with a fizzy/frothy off-white head. Nice citiric and bitter pine aroma with some alcohol and a mild touch of sweetness. Flavor is citrus and piney hops with some earthy and metalic bitterness to the alcohol character, like sucking on a coin. Luckily that only shows towards the end of the finish and the entire preceding mouthful is enjoyable. This beer has the nice characteristics of Unearthly that I enjoyed, but also the ashen alcoholic bitterness of Hoppe which I did not. In the end is not superior to Unearthly in my opinion.

Both bready and full of citrus. Pours transparent gold with a small head and good lacing. Flavor starts off like the aroma with the hops leading the way. There is also some caramel and finishes a little dusty. Palate is crisp and tart with a malty finish. Tasty stuff. sunevdj (1789), Copenhagen OE, Denmark

Smells of hops. Bitter and hoppy. Ful flavoured. Aromas of grapefruit and plant sap and hints of alcohol and resin. Medium to full bodied. Medium carbonation. Such a clean taste. I’m impressed. No nonsence - Good stuff. Hoppy finish... Not as bitter as first expected. coyotehunter (559), , Michigan, USA

The wax cap is about a pain in the ass.Pours a cloudy, dirty, orange with lots of particles, hence the unfiltering. Splendid scents of orange, pine, grapefruit and toasted malt with some caramel thrown in. What a fantastic flavor of malt and pine, with an aftertaste of grapefruit. Very good amount of bitter in there. Slight alcohol finish with notes of grass, pine, and malt. The hop infusion in this beer in unbelieveable. the tastebuds arent sure if they are experiencing pepper, pine, citrus, or floral in the same drink...Good beer. xibalba89 (147), New York, New York, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 6, 2009 Pours a clear orange with a nice zesty head. The aroma is just what you want an IPA to be... some white grapes, grass and a slight hint of vegetable. The spiciness in the aroma hints at a dry desert... it’s a great start. The flavor starts sweet, with a wonderful buttery mouthfeel. The finish leaves a long shadow of spice. This beer is proof that IPAs dont have to be made in a lazy way that just pumps them full of hops up front and leaves nothing for later. Excellent.
