Commercial Description:
“blended hoppe & unearthly” High in the winter sky, two parallel stick figures are visible & known as “the twins,” or the constellation Gemini. The astronauts of the 1960s flew as teams of two in a program named after the celestial pairing. At Southern Tier, we have our own fraternal twins, Hoppe & Unearthly. Blended together & placed in this vessel, the mission of our Gemini is to travel high & take passengers on a journey far into the heavens. 10.5% abv • 5.8ºL

irishboy and i needed a chainsaw to get this open, but once we did it was worth it for sure.small semi-cloudy yellow with a nice white head that left webbing on the glass.the aroma is full of sticky, wet, green hops.just what i want from a hop bomb.the flavor boasts huge amounts of ivry, citurs, pine, and green wet sticky hops.this ranks up with some of the best double ipa’s i have ever had.

Hoppe and Unearthly were pretty good beers, but I wasn’t particularly impressed with either one. Somehow, the combination of the two is tremendous. The alcohol presence of Unearthly is toned down, and the balance of hops and caramel malt is nice. But what’s the deal with the horrible smelling wax?

Bottle. Aroma has notes of citrus, honey, caramel, grass, and flowers. Wonderful aroma. Hazy medium orange amber hue with an average sized off-white head that mostly diminished and left good lace. Flavor is caramel sweet and fruity then ends with a solid bitterness. Palate is full bodied and oily soft. Alcohol is well masked and body is nice and smooth. A very good DIPA with a fantastic nose, flavor and palate. Very good chilledStellar.

Courtesy of GMCC2181. Bomber pours copper with gold edges and white head of foam. The aroma is grapefruit hops, pine hops, some grassiness, a bit of roasted malts and a backbone of mild sweet malts. The aroma seems a bit on the light side, lighter than I had hoped. The taste has the feel of a fairly thick high FG body ushering in a balanced attack of grapefruit hop and pine hop bitterness that seem to interchange back and forth in strength. There is a persistent malty sweetness and mild roastiness floating around in there too. Very nice, thanks again Gabe.

Aroma - Fresh hoppy aroma of citrus and pine jumps right out, caramel and toffee follow quickly

Appearance - Clear orange/amber pour, solid off white head with good staying power, and some good lace

Flavor - Loads of malty sweetness up front, caramel, and some sweet toasty grain contribute. Bitterness builds slowly, but ultimately keeps things in check with a barely dry finish.

Palate - Medium body and carbonation, slightly sticky and palate coating

Overall - Big and brash, alcohol barely noticeable, a lot of malt character, as is common for the style. The hoppy nose is inviting, but the malt takes over after that.

First of all, the wax on this one is a pain in the ass. This is loaded with cocain white head. The aroma is all hops with pine and citrus coming through. Taste is funky, almost too much going on. It’s safe to say this is as close to heartburn in a bottle as you can get. Good, but not great. Southern tier is becoming a hit or miss brewery for me.
