When words don’t say enough we sometimes let our fingers do the talking. Maybe it’s kid stuff, but the sign of the goat has been used by rock stars, sports fans, celebrities & unfortunate politicians to celebrate symbolically. Open this bottle for your turn to flash the eternal gesture of high voltage rock & roll. For those about to bock, we salute you!

Bomber from TheEpeeist after two years of waiting for them to produce their Matador (still listed with no ratings). Nose is banana, wheat bread yeast, with a hint of vanilla toffee and cloves. Murky amber with a medium, lightly lacing, beige head. Flavor is lightly bitter, sweet bananas, and very spicy and peppery. Nice weizenbock!

Mrs Tiki has a thing where she goes to the liquor store on her own free will & tries to buy me beers on her own dime that I have not rated in an attempt to stump me. I know, right? This is the first of three I haven’t tried & it pours a sturdy furniture polish brown with a lush slice of foam on top. Comes on a little strong, like a bar stool hussy, all sharp flavours & lively carbonation. But it does settle into a nice groove after a few minutes. Spicey, a little too much brown sugar, hints of rye. I spent most of the day outside in the sun while you were at work & this is a great first beer of the evening.

Bottle from the LCBO. Cloudy dark copper with a tiny white head that is gone immediately. Nose is toffee, brown sugar some spice and a touch of banana. Medium sweet caramel with a balanced spiciness and the alcohol well integrated. Medium creamy mouth with slightly soft carbonation.

The beer pours a translucent mahogany colour with a thin creamy light tan coloured head. The aroma is caramel malt, spices, dark fruit, and wheat. The mouthfeel is creamy and medium-full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is sweet up front with notes of caramel and banana, and has a bitter kick to the finish. Best Southern Tier brew I’ve had

Pours dark with a bit of head. Aroma of rye, malt, brown and root beer.Tastes of rye malt: not particularly tasty. Slightly oily mouthfeel.

Bomber poured into my weirdo Aventinus glass. Aroma is bready, root beer barrels. Pours nearly clear copper with a beige head that falls too fast into a ring. Taste is bittersweet (emphasis on bitter), spicy, boozy, root beer. Doesn’t taste like a weizenbock at all, really. It’s closer to an alcoholic root beer/hoppy amber ale hybrid or something. Weird.

Pours dark brown with a moderate frothy off white top. Aroma is sweet caramel and rich malt. Taste is a big blast of caramel malt, sweetness is powerful. Chewy wheat and a small hop bite.

At first the aroma was weird but then settled into malt. Sweet malt and caramel taste but there’s an unusual bitter finish. Kind of disappointed.

650ml. Pours a clear copper colour with a beige head. On the nose, banana pudding, alcohol, brown sugar, light cranberry and mineral notes. As for taste, pretty one sided, brown sugar, mineral notes, dark maple syrup, and light metallic bitterness that pretty much follows all the way until the end. Really, there’s just not much going on here. Wow, I’m officially let down by a Southern Tier beer. I wasn’t sure I would ever type such words.

2014 Backlog. Bottle. Pours a deep amber body. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of sweet, bright spices, clove, banana, malt, faint cocoa, a touch of vanilla, alcohol and rum. A bit too much booze and clove character.

650 mL bottle. Nicecolour, not much head. Very little aroma, either. The taste is Aventinus only thinner and simpler. Not bad, but I’ll stick with the classic.
