3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: DEC 15, 2014 (12/2014) This years version is less complex then my original tasting - could be late in its freshness cycle. Nice ale. Mildly aromatic. Pale clear amber. Refreshing crisp bitter on a solid malt body. Some nuance - taste starts with balanced interplay between malt sweet and hop bitter with the bitter winning out in the finish. Still good, just not as dramatic.
(11/2012 - 3.9) Beers like this make me like hops. Nice pour, brief, shallow, off-white head. Warm amber-gold in color - very close to the label color. The Aroma - one of the more complex and pleasing hop aromas I?ve had. The Taste - hop forward, but married to a malt background, very integrated, nicely done. It starts as if it?s going with that overused banana taste and then curves into an elegant, slightly peppery ginger zone. This is one to look for.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
This brew is excellent! The extra hops lends a powerful kick in the aroma. The taste is toasty barley wonderland--I just love it. I would certainly get this again when it comes out again next fall.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pour out of 12 oz bottle, hazy orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, spice, yeast, some bready and toast, hints of earth, nice buttered popcorn. Taste is a mix of grass, butter, bread, hints of spice, yeast, some red fruit, finishing bitter, grassy, buttered toast. Very nice, wish there was a bit more malty notes, finishing bitter, slightly sweet.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Une bouteille partagée. Un liquide jaune dorée avec une mousse blanche. Un nez agréable de houblon et de grain sec. Une touche de caramel agrémante le tout. Une bouche bien faite avec des notes de grains et de houblon. Une finale amère.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a clear copper orange color about a one finger beige head. Nose is grass, grapefruit, mango. Medium body, medium carbonation, medium caramel sweetness, dry finish, slight bitterness. Great interpretation of the style, even if it’s more IPA like.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Appearance: deep gold, with some pinkish orange amber highlights, with one finger of foamy just off-white head that’s extremely persistent. Aroma: grapefruit, apricot, blood orange, some toasty rye bread. Taste: grapefruit and spruce are in your face right up front, with the bitterness holding over as some sweet fruits and light grains try to come through. Finish: astringent, but slick and smooth, with a lasting bright bitterness, a bit of toast, a surprising shot of mint, and just a hint of hand soap. Notes: Would have liked just a bit more malt backbone to balance this, with maybe a tad more heft in the palate. Maybe some rye. Maybe I was just really jonesing for their 2X Rye when I had this… Bottle from Total Wine, McLean, Virginia.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
It pours golden with an orange tinge. The white head sticks around for a while. It does produce some lacing. There is an aroma of hay, barley, and grassy hops. It has a sweet taste to it with grassy hops. It has a bitter finish as well.
