JoeTheYounger (91), California, USA Jun 28, 2009 Pours a golden color with a thick creamy head. Aroma of sweet candy and hops. Caramel taste, good carbonation. Very smooth with great after taste. angrypirate06 (351), Texas, USA Jun 27, 2009 Hazy golden yellow with fizzy white head. Strong pine and grassy hops. Great nose! Great hoppy and grass flavor. White pepper. larsniclas (3334), Gothenburg, Sweden Jun 26, 2009 Bottled at 3 små rum
Clear golden. Small, bubbly, white head.
Sweet and creamy aroma and flavour. A lot of flowery hops.
Very sweet; a bit too sweet... CheersMate1 (607), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jun 20, 2009 Bright orange with very little head. Nice looking beer. Looks like an Imperial/double IPA. I was expecting more of a hoppy aroma, but this thing is dominated by the sweet malt aroma. There is a noticeable hop aroma, but the malts dominate too much. I am really not a fan of the overly malty aroma. This is good because it is actually pungent and not hard to catch a whiff of. Tastes a little bitter, but again too much malt sweetness for me. The palate is nice a smooth, which again, it seems all Southern Tier beers are VERY smooth and have a great texture. The hops are lacking and I wish there was more of a balance. As far as the maltiness, it is nice, but I personally am not a fan of this. I like more of the balance between hops and malts. tronraner (1802), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Jun 10, 2009 Bomber, split with NachlamSie, supplied by Soonah. Pours a nice gold color with long-lasting white head. The aroma is quite pungent with hops, especially piney sorts, with some catty notes, canteloupe, overripe strawberry, and musk. The flavor is nice and hoppy, again with strong pine. There is also a little bit of orange and lemon, and again that canteloupe and strawberry thing. There’s a honeyish malt backbone to it all. The bitterness is quite assertive overall, which keeps it rather crisp. Not too shabby. NachlamSie (1568), Tennessee, USA Jun 10, 2009 Bottle shared with me through the generosity of Tronraner. Pours a very cloudy light yellow with a neat head. The aroma is very hoppy and very American, but lacks the typical citrus delivery. Not a lot of grapefruit here. There are some citrus notes sure, but largely melon, cantaloupe, and herbs are in the aroma. The flavor is super hoppy. Lots of melon again and even a dash of strawberries are in the flavor. Since there is basically no malt quality to this beer and instead an ass ton of hop character is all over the place, why is this not considered an IIPA on the site? bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Jun 10, 2009 Poured a dark amber color with huge bubbly head. Aroma was lots of citrus and pine. Grapefruit all over my nose. Flavor was much the same and on par for the style was hot alcohol a little much. Solid beer.
jimhilt (1585), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Jun 7, 2009 Pours a two finger white head that fades to a thin layer leaving a good lace. Pale crystal clear amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Grapefruit hop nose. Flavor has a lot of hops (grapefruit) and malt (caramel), almost balanced but hops win with a grapefruit finish. $7.25 for a 22oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, MA.
