Commercial Description:
We craft this much like a sculptor who uses only a hammer and chisel to shape stone into a masterpiece. Hoppe is spawned of these few essentials: barley, wheat, hops, yeast and water. This limited palette is an exercise in minimalism, with refined elements which are deliberately selected. This simple combination creates a golden shimmering brew infused with delicate aromas. The artful nature of this beer is exposed with the first taste. As the malt and hops created a composition of flavors, and elegant finish leaves an impression that your tastes will not soon forget. Don't be deceived by th innocence of Hoppe. Please enjoy in moderation.

22oz. bomber, pours a clear golden with a one finger white head, small spots of lace. Aroma is citrus, pine and light floral, with equal amounts of caramel malts. Flavor is more of the same, with a slightly lingering hops bitterness, alcohol is well hidden. An easy drinking beer that works well on a warm day.

Bottle; poured a lighter than expected color; a goldish color, with a small, but stubborn white head. Aroma of caramel chews, grapefruit, fruit and biscuits. Well balanced; caramel and citrus hops. Alcohol is well hidden. A touch of sweetness. Drinkable, but not the best tasting version of the style.

Sampled at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits Wednesday evening beer tasting, and shared by BDR and Badgerben. From a 22-oz bomber pours a light bronze/golden brew with a thick off-white head that slowly dissipates to a a thin white and creamy head. NIce lacing with this beer. Aroma of light caramel and wheat biscuit malt, a touch of grassy hops, some grapefruit and some grain alcohol. Taste is slightly metallic from the high alcohol, lightly carbonated with flavors of biscuit grain malt, grapefruit, a touch of white pepper and some orange zest. Finish is semi-sweet, with a light caramel and alcohol warmth aftertaste.

Bottle. Clear, golden pour. Medium herbal hoppiness in flavor balanced nicely with sweet maltiness. Medium body.

650 ml bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear deep golden with a decent off-white froth. Aroma: Peppery, leafy, resinous hops, some cereal, biscuit and light caramel, some grapefruit, somewhat floral, a bit of fruitiness, light tropical fruits. Palate: Medium-full body, low carbonation, very syrupy. Flav.: Some grapefruit, orange peel and resinous/peppery hops, grain and bread crust, a bit of wood and more than a touch of alcohol, caramel and fruit; fairly sweet, decent bitterness, a bit of alcohol burn; biscuit finish.

Doesn’t appeal to me somehow, but I’m having trouble nailing down the exact reason – maybe I expect richer malt flavours for the body and hops? Not refreshing.

Bottle. One of the better strong ales. Hazy amber body with a small, off-white head. Heavy malt aroma of grain, wood along with hop aromas of pine, resin and grapefruit. Some alcohol notes as well. The flavor is moderately sweet, moderately bitter and moderately acidic — though the bitterness becomes dominant through the finish. Medium to full body and average carbonation. Sticky in the finish. Some heavily hopped, heavily malted American strong ales turn out tasting odd to me. This one seems better balanced and tastier.

light golden with thin white head, it exudes the typical ipa aroma that blends citrus with flower. the flavor is sweet and malty; nicely balanced by hops.

Nice golden color, white head. Ah, has the look of a summer beer. Nice citrus hops in the nose. Very well balanced flavor - solid malt sweetness, balanced out by a moderate, but very refreshing hop bite. Nice full mouthfeel. This beer is unbelievably drinkable...is this seriously 10%? Very nice beer.
