willblake (2160), Belcamp, Maryland, USA Apr 30, 2008 20080430 Bomber. Palest golden and clear, it looks just like a pale lager only less effervescent than most. The head is small but creamy and white. The aroma grows on me as the beer wears on, but really it’s a simple affront to good sense as the impression is that of a gang of tropical and spruce aromas and little else. Slight mineral and cat pee hints. The body is odd - thin, only fairly effy, strangely waxy and coating through the middle but quickly drying out to a citrus candy sweetness. Flavor is a similar hop affront with emergent floral notes that don’t blend all that well with the persistent cat pee. Alcohol comes through aggressively at the finish and lingering, waning only to a tooth scraping, astringent, raw hop finishing note, massively pithy and oily-acidic. jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Apr 30, 2008 Great hazy golden orange coloured body with a thin white head - very nice! Aroma of grapefruits, pine, sweet caster sugar, oranges and of course - some fresh hops! Full-bodied; Strong alcoholic flavour up front , then fading to a potent metallic and nutty taste - that hides a lot of the hops! Aftertaste remains strong, a lot of flavours roaming, more strong and bitter tastes than mild ones. The hops are hidden after the smell, and the alcohol plays more of a part than you’d expect! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from K&E Discount Beverage in New Paltz, New York at the end of 2007, sampled four months later on 29-April-2008. Hawksfan17 (717), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 29, 2008 Malty nose with notes of hops and spice on this golden amber pour. Very smooth beer with low carbonation. It was spicy and the hops were present but not over the top. There was a nice warming sensation afterwards. bierkoning (5987), La Tropica, Netherlands Apr 29, 2008 Bottle. pale orange color. Grapefruit, mandarin curacao and flowery hops in teh somewhat perfumed aroma. Malty sweet, grapefruity flavor with oily and flowery hops and lychee. Long perfumed hoppy grapefruity aftertaste. Good balance, but the perfume annoys a bit. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Apr 28, 2008 Bottle from Beerman6686. Thanks Daniel. Pours a goldish yellow color with a little head. Aroma is that of a big ass APA. Bready and biscuity malts with a nice kick of citrus and floral hops. Drinks like a big APA. Nice malty beer that has nice notes of bread and biscuits. Maybe cookies - sweet bready. Finishes with a nice big bitterness that consisted of citrus and pine. Could not tell this was 10%. Pretty big carbonation, a little dry and resinous. Some good stuff. I would like to try this one when fresh. Lothore (276), California, USA Apr 26, 2008 A- Pours a deep yellowish orange color with a small but sustainable white head.
S- Smell is light bready maltiness accompanied by a strong burst of hops.
T- Taste is bready, sweet with an intense bitter hop kick at the end. Very dry.
M- semi viscous, very carbonated and super dry, leaves the tongue seconds after it is ingested except for a bitterness.
D- Semi drinkable, I could drink this glass easily but I didn’t want another after. desurfer (1067), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA Apr 24, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear straw gold with little head. Aroma is very hoppy and bright. Lots of pine and citrus hoppiness in the flavor; very tasty and drinkable. tjthresh (1746), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Apr 24, 2008 22 ounce bottle. Pours is brilliant golden with some rising carbonation. Resinous pure white head. Bright citrus and pine dry hop aroma. Really, can you go wrong with Amarillo and Columbus? I think not.The flavor is a restrained blast of hops, pine, and a slick sweet malty character. Full body, with above average carbonation, and a a long bitter finish. If they could make this beer, but knock it down to say 6 percent, I’d drink it all the time.
