mrant (330), New York, USA Apr 13, 2008 Smells of sour floral hops, very fresh and pleasing. Pours a hazy light copper color with a small white head. Taste is strong sour and bitter hops with a nice malt presence. The alcohol is there but not overpowering. Very nice marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA Apr 12, 2008 Intense hoppy bread like aroma with light mustiness. Golden blond colors with rich white head. Rich almost chococolate initial burst with a musty finish. Some horseblanket. Vanilla pudding. Bitter. Salty. This has some bizarre combination of flavors but not offputting. Some honey and caramel, some pine, some wood. Musty but good. Yeast is doing strange things to this. Unusual and I like it. BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Apr 11, 2008 Tahitian sunset pour with 1/2 inch eggshell head. The aroma not as pronounced as others but displays notes of nectarine, buttermilk biscuits, and ponderosa. Flavor hides the alcohol well. Grapefruit, pine, and biscuity malt all begging for attention. Lingering tartness. Well balanced just not a WOW!!! nuplastikk (1161), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Apr 10, 2008 650ml bottle. Golden-orange color, a little cloudy. Excellent fresh and crisp citrus aroma. Lots of hoppy flavor. This beer is big and lets you know it. The alcohol isn’t so much hidden as it is incorporated into the overall taste. The hops perfectly balance the warming effect of the alcohol, with a cool and crisp bitterness. Creamy and rich yeast flavors also come through. Great beer. jsh12bama (335), Alabama, USA Apr 7, 2008 Pours golden/light orange with white head. Aroma of hops, and honey. Taste is light notes of grapefruit, dough , and honey. Hops are not overpowering. Goes down easy and shocked this is 10%. Good beer. Syd (888), Waconia, Minnesota, USA Apr 3, 2008 Bottle pours a crystal clear light copper with a two inch off white head and lots of lacing. The aroma is very much of resinous hops, pine sap in the sugar bush season (spring when the nights are below freezing, but the days are above freezing), and fresh bread. The flavor is of sour dough bread, ale fruitiness, and hop juice. Oh yeah, we really have something here. I just read the ABV, there is no way I can taste the 10%. The palate is thin but lively and cleansing compared to other IIPAs of similar ABV, but it seems to work OK. This is one fine beer. Make no mistake, one of the finer IIPAs out there. Um yeah, I just saw it is classified as an ASA - OK then, damn good ASA. Next time, I buy a case. Ughsmash (3983), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Apr 2, 2008 Bomber, at least a year old. Poured clear, brilliant lighter orange with a short, creamy cap of off-white head. The aroma was quite delightful.. rich, biscuity sweetness joined tangerines and perfumey notes upfront with undertones of lemongrass and a lighter spice that I cannot pinpoint.. fruity, warm feel at the back. The flavor had a decidedly fruity sweetness at the core with more-than-ample cat pee and floral notes from the Amarillo.. floral, perfume, and tangerine bitterness around the edges, amplified by some alcohol warmth.. grainy, warm finish. Heavier-bodied on the palate with medium carbonation.. rather bitter and grainy on the palate with a very warm back.. fusels were a little stronger than I’d like, but maybe because I drank this warmer than suggested. Solid stuff! xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA Apr 2, 2008 Bomber from West Lakeview Liquors, Chicago. Hazy light orange/amber with medium white head. Aroma is big citrus hops slight pine, also a nice doughy malt backbone with caramel and a little yeast (or maybe perfumy alc) spice. Dirty citrusy hops, some dough and definite perfuminess, pretty sweet caramel malt base, wheat. Creamy full body, a little chally. Very nice but once again a little too much perfume.
