nimbleprop (822), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA Dec 12, 2007 Poured a deep orange color with ruby hues and a foamy white head. Smells like a well hopped IPA, plenty of pine, soap, orange, lemon but also banana, malt, and a touch of yeast. Taste is hard candy, citrus, oranges/tangerines, malt, medicine, and resin. Finish is sticky and thick on the tongue and palate with a slight lasting bitterness and heat from the alcohol. Smells good, looks good, unique, drinkable. Worth a try. Bockyhorsey (2487), Mesa, Arizona, USA Dec 12, 2007 Bomber courtesy of eaglefan538. Pine and sweet malt some grain in aroma. Gold body with good head some lacing clung to top of pint glass. Flavor has a citrus grapefruit at first. Second glass from bomber more a dry resin sugary sweet malt that you get from those accross the pond. Sweet dry aftertaste on palate but good brew after a hard days work. theisti (1640), Leawood, Kansas, USA Dec 11, 2007 22 oz. bottle shared by csbosox at the 12/7 tasting at Indra’s. Pour is slightly hazed golden-orange with a smallish white head. Aroma full of Amarillo hops, slightly earthy, and somewhat citrusy. Some sweetness also present in the nose. Taste is nice, a good resin-earthy sweet citrus thing going on. There is also some graininess to the taste. The finish is a bit of grapefruit rind which detracts a bit. Overall nice, though a bit jagged in the finish. Thanks for hauling this one back, Chris. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Dec 10, 2007 Bottle shared by csbosox at Indra’s tasting on 12/7/07. Pours a hazy straw with a thin, creamy, white cap. The nose is of caramel and "candied" citric hops (Columbus?) with a lesser note of candy sugar sweetness in the background. Medium-bodied it feels slick at first but transitions to lightly grainy at the swallow and concludes in a tight, bitter finish. The flavor follows the nose with the citric hops and nice carbonation acting together as a nice complement to the sweet, wheaty, malt body. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Dec 10, 2007 22 oz bottle: Pours a light amber color a thin but hearty, pock-marked foam top. The aroma is sweet and inticing, drawing me like a bee to honey. This drinks with a resiny oily body, smooth and incredibly easy to drink ... no way this has 10%! The hoppiness is sweet and piney, but not obtuse. Excellent beer! (#3244, 12/10/2007) csbosox (1076), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Dec 7, 2007 Updated: Dec 8, 2007Wonderful aroma. Tropical fruits, candi citrus, wildflowers. Orange color. Strong bitterness, strong alcohol, lots of citrus. hopslovin (180), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Dec 7, 2007 Clear golden pour with foamy white head. Aromas of grass and hops on the nose. Flavors of grass, honey, hops, and sweet malt. Medium mouthfeel. Tame for 10%. SpringsLicker (2041), Tennessee, USA Dec 2, 2007 Pours medium yellow with an average sized white head.
Perfumed aroma of citrus - oranges.
It takes finesse to craft a big malty strong ale that retains balance yet retains complexity and high drinkability. This one needs work as well.
Not a bad brew, but this one doesn’t put it all together s it should.
