MrManning (1634), London, Ontario, Canada Jul 8, 2009 Bottle thanks to my friends Erin and Chris- A slightly hazed straw liquid sits under a frothy white foam. Lots of spotty lace left behind too. Lots of biscuit and lemony hops in the nose, some pine and floral notes, with some grapefruit. Tastes quite hoppy. Pine and citrus, caramel malts, quite biscuity as well. FInish is hoppy, lemony, quite bitter with marked sweetness to balance. Very good. tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jul 8, 2009 Leafy lemon citrus hops in the nose with smooth sweet underlying honey-toasted malt character. Hazy deep golden coloured body is topped by a decent fine bubbled white head that recedes to a lasting cover with some lacing. Bitterness is quite strong over a rather dry malt flavour. Citrus and floral notes are apparent in the aftertaste as is some alcohol. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle purchased at Brewery Creek in Jul-09. Bigmmartin (366), Dayton, Ohio, USA Jul 6, 2009 Pale yellow golden in color with a white head. Aromas of citrus and grass. The crisp hop flavors have a nice malt backbone as well. Quite bitter finish as well. Light carbonation and a medium body. mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jul 5, 2009 Pours a clear straw-gold with a modest head, dissipating to a thin ring of foam and some nice lacing. Aroma is quite promising; loads of leafy hops and a slight alcohol bite. Taste is... unusual. Starts off great with a nice bitter hoppy bite, opening up into peppery alcohol which burns surprisingly long into the finish, and then an odd sweetness begins to come through, sort of corn-like. Alcohol and bittering hops combine to create a satisfying dry finish, though, which overcomes any awkward malting. Plenty of carbonation and a crisp, thin body. Yum! Aside from that odd malt note, this is a very taste beer, and probably more along the lines of an IPA than anything else. JoeTheYounger (218), California, USA Jun 28, 2009 Pours a golden color with a thick creamy head. Aroma of sweet candy and hops. Caramel taste, good carbonation. Very smooth with great after taste. angrypirate06 (678), Texas, USA Jun 27, 2009 Hazy golden yellow with fizzy white head. Strong pine and grassy hops. Great nose! Great hoppy and grass flavor. White pepper. larsniclas (3383), Gothenburg, Sweden Jun 26, 2009 Bottled at 3 små rum
Clear golden. Small, bubbly, white head.
Sweet and creamy aroma and flavour. A lot of flowery hops.
Very sweet; a bit too sweet... CheersMate1 (768), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jun 20, 2009 Bright orange with very little head. Nice looking beer. Looks like an Imperial/double IPA. I was expecting more of a hoppy aroma, but this thing is dominated by the sweet malt aroma. There is a noticeable hop aroma, but the malts dominate too much. I am really not a fan of the overly malty aroma. This is good because it is actually pungent and not hard to catch a whiff of. Tastes a little bitter, but again too much malt sweetness for me. The palate is nice a smooth, which again, it seems all Southern Tier beers are VERY smooth and have a great texture. The hops are lacking and I wish there was more of a balance. As far as the maltiness, it is nice, but I personally am not a fan of this. I like more of the balance between hops and malts.
