Rich sweet hoppy aromas of apricot, peach, and tropical fruit over a soft spicy pale malt base. A bit of pine comes forth as the beer warms, but only plays a backing role to the aforementioned tropical aroma. Well-hopped but the bitterness is very smooth. Soft sweet/spicy malts up front followed by pineapple and sweet grassy flavour. The body is very lean with crisp minerally character that comes through nicely. Light wheaty spice on the back that adds a bit of depth and complexity to the otherwise lean malts. Excellent brew. ¾ (5012), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 11, 2007 Bottle shared by Drew. Clear gold to dark yellow colored body. Stenchy, sharp lemon medicinal and cleaner-like notes in the aroma... sharp, oily and live on the palate, hoppy pine and honey flavors, sharp pine hops, fresh, maybe a bit too soapy... strange one, not exactly an IPA or DIPA, the name extra pale ale fits. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 16, 2007 This pours a light gold body with a three-fingered head that laces in spotted sheets round the glass. It’s got an aroma of grapefruit, pine, and oranges - no malt. The latter lends a balancing sweetness to the flavor, but it’s mainly about the citric bitterness, rejoined by the pine in the finish. Very nicely lopsided in a hop-head’s favor.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 13, 2007 Very lightly hazed golden color with a full head of big off-white bubbles. Small isles of lace. Strong hoppy aroma. Heavy scents of grapefruit and cedar. For me its just too much hops and not much of anything else in the scent. Plus the woody aspect is not that appealing to me. Cedar comes out in the flavors as well. Slight hint of malt sweetness followed by the hit in the mouth of a cedar plank. Hot and spicy in the finish with alcohol and white pepper. Seems raw and unbalanced. If this was in an 8 ounce bottle I may think more of it, but to slug it out with this bomber is too much work. Medium balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This is a solid beer. anders37 (4796), Malmö, Sweden

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 18, 2007 Bottle from Capone’s. Dark straw pour with 2-finger whitish head. Aroma of heavy hops, caramel malt, tropical fruit notes. Tastes on the sweet side of the malt scale, with a lot of syrupy caramel malt matched by significant hopcitrus and fruity bills, with finishing spice and lemongrassy notes.
