| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 31, 2008 Updated: Mar 5, 2009Bottle thanks to PilsnerPeter, thanks once again. Poured a clear golden color with a moderate white head that faded to a ring. Moderate hop resin, pine, some leafiness, and some faint citrus, including orange and tangerine. Soft, lightly sweet entry with a hint of caramel leads into a lightly resinous, spicy floral hop hit with some light pine and sweet sugar. Full on the palate with a moderate hop bite. Pretty good brew, but not quite as good as it’s brother Unearthly. bgburdman9 (824), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 6, 2007 This just didnt have anything special to it at all. Not a lot of hop aroma or flavor at all. Not much alchohol noticable at all in this one which was suprising for the 10%. Not bad in anyway but nothing i would get a gain. oteyj (823), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 3, 2009 Amber pour with smallish white head. Aroma is quite citrusy with some caramel, angelfood cake, and dough. Flavor is quite sweet with an excellent yeasty dough character, tea, and a nice caramel toffee sweetness. Citrus is quite prevalent as well. Palate is medium to full with some warming alcohol present. Very unique and interesting. MaltDawg (819), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 16, 2008 Tap at Capital Ale House 05/13/08. Clear dark golden with large frothy head that stuck around. Big floral/citrusy hop aroma. Pronounced citrusy and fruity hop flavors over a light pilsner or other malt backbone with some fruity yeast character. Fairly full mouthfeel with some residual hop bitterness in the finish and some alchohol warming. Nicely balanced Hoppe beer. Heathen (810), Riverside, New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 26, 2009 THOUGHTS: It was OK, but probably my one of my least favorite Southern Tier Imperial beer. I know it was supposed to be one-sided. I just don’t particularly like its one side. Some beers just shouldn’t bee imperialized. The hops were way stronger in the flavor than in the aroma.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a light, clear golden orange without much visible carbonation and a small, off-white head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma was moderate butter cookies, buttered toast and cake; and moderate floral, perfume-like and lemony hops that combined to be a little pissy. The initial flavor was lightly sweet, acidic and rather bitter; while the finish was sweet, acidic and very bitter with a long duration. There was cookie, cake, citrus (lemon) hops, orange and lemon zest, floral, perfume hops and a little pissiness. The medium body was fairly dry with somewhat soft carbonation and a moderately astringent, every so lightly alcoholic, sort of metallic and dry finish. Pawola22 (805), Kansas City, Missouri, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 2, 2010 22oz bottle. Pours a hazed golden-orange body with a firm, finger-width, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is fresh, bright, and sweeter hops with a good amount of bready malts. Sweet oranges and maybe a touch of lemon-pepper. Straightforward, but solid. Flavor is the same. Bready malts up front with a light sweetness. Lots of sweeter citrus, amarillo hoppiness. A very elegant taste to the hops. A touch of pepper and butter towards the finish as this ends with a light to moderate, leafy bitterness and a pale, caramel sweetness. A light resin accompanies a lengthy aftertaste after a very smooth, light to medium body with a very soft carbonation. Overall, a tasty beer. I mentioned the elegance in the hops and they balance very well with a nice, bready malt profile. The citrus is sweet and the leafy hops give off just a slight pepper aroma and flavor. Straightforward, but well done.
